MySweetWishList: Communities Foundation Of Texas

Dec 10, 2018 9:30 AM by Jeanne Prejean

According to Communities Foundation of Texas Chief Relationship Officer Monica Egert Smith,

Monica Egert Smith*

“When you look at the origins of the word ‘philanthropy’ it means to love humanity, and I think we can all agree that we could use a bit more love in the world these days. What better way to promote kindness and compassion in our community and our world, than to teach the next generation about the joy of giving. That’s why my wish for the holiday season is that every family would open at donor-advised fund at CFT to help their children and grandchildren experience the joy of giving.

“Communities Foundation of Texas (CFT), was founded in 1953 on the simple notion that each day we have the opportunity to make tomorrow better.  To do that, we work with individuals, families, companies and nonprofits to make giving easy, effective and enjoyable.  One of the many tools we use is a donor-advised fund, which provides an immediate tax benefit for the donor, but also provides great flexibility to allow you to thoughtfully give to the nonprofit and organizations that you care about.

“As a fund holder at CFT, you have access to our team of experts who can help you develop a giving strategy, identify effective nonprofits, plan for your charitable legacy – and most importantly, get your family involved in your philanthropy.  CFT offers a variety of special services to families, and it’s a great privilege to see charitably-minded individuals pass down their values to children and grandchildren – no matter how young or old.

“On our website you can read about how Jan and Fred Hegi even set up a fund for their grandchildren. CFT gathers the six grandchildren together regularly to talk about how they want to give back. It’s both great family bonding and great for those nonprofits that receive grants from the Hegi grandkids.

“A donor-advised fund can be opened in less than an hour, and our team at CFT will be here until 5 p.m. on Monday, December 31, to assist with year-end gifts. Visit us at 5500 Caruth Haven Lane, or online at CFTexas.org.  We look forward to partnering with you and your family on your philanthropic journey.  Happy Holidays!”
