According to 2019 Go Red For Women Luncheon Katherine Coker,
“Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in women, claiming the lives of one in three women. The American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women® movement, celebrating its 15th anniversary, is the trusted, passionate, relevant force for change to eradicate heart disease and stroke in women all over the world.
“As we think about our mothers, daughter, sisters and friends, the real possibility of a loved one being affected by cardiovascular disease is the reason my husband, Key Coker, and I are passionate about the Go Red For Women movement.
“Over the past 15 years, the Go Red For Women movement has saved the lives of 670,000 women. But the work is far from over. My wish is that more women become empowered to better achieve health and well-being, and together, we can help eliminate heart disease and stroke in women in North Texas and worldwide.
“Key and I are proud to co-chair this year’s Go Red For Women Luncheon on Friday, February 22, with Judy Hendrick. We will help raise vital awareness and funds for research and education programs to fight heart disease and stroke affecting women.
“It is no longer just about wearing red or sharing heart-health facts. The Go Red For Women movement is about encouraging women to stand together and take charge of their heart health.
