According to 2019 Crystal Charity Ball Chair Pat McEvoy,
“’We live in world in which we need to share responsibility. It’s easy to say “It’s not my child, not my community, not my world, not my problem.” Then there are those who see the need and respond. I consider those people my heroes.’ -Mr. Rogers
“That quote was published in the 2019 Children’s Book and it summarizes our wish for the holiday season and the new year-helping children who can’t help themselves.
“Since 1952, the Crystal Charity Ball has benefited 175 children’s charities in Dallas County with more than $142 million distributed. Beneficiaries have ranged from Ronald McDonald House to Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing Arts. The common thread is that children are the future and we all need to join forces to make their dreams come true. Every child deserves an education, healthcare, safety and positive reinforcement.
“In February, the Crystal Charity Ball Committee, after weeks of extensive research and vetting, will identify several children’s charities as the 2019 Beneficiaries. Charity Selection Committee members, along with the accounting firm Deloitte, have dutifully analyzed dozens of requests and proposals that will be vetted and culled before being presented to the entire Crystal Charity Ball membership. The campaign to fund these worthy recipients will begin in March.
