The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary’s 2019 Fashion Show And Luncheon Chair Elizabeth Gambrell has been busy. In addition to collecting clothes for The Salvation Army’s fundraiser at the Winspear on Tuesday, May 7, she’s arranged for Jacqueline Fojtasek to serve as honorary chair.
It was such a natural fit, since Jacqueline and her family have supported The Salvation Army since 1994 via volunteering and philanthropy. As Jacqueline put it, “I don’t know any other reason more important than helping those that are less fortunate than I am.”
Another announcement is the recipient of the 2019 Margot Perot Service Award. Honoring “an Auxiliary volunteer who has gone above and beyond in service and support to The Salvation Army,” the award will be presented to Gina C. Jones, who has “been a member of the Women’s Auxiliary for more than six years, volunteering over 1,250 hours, serving on the 2014 executive committee and chairing the 2014 Fashion Show And Luncheon.” A CPA, Gina “has raised the Auxiliary’s standard of accounting reporting to accommodate such a complex fundraiser, allowing the Auxiliary to have meaningful comparisons year over year.”
According to The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary President Deborah Budge, “The Salvation Army is honored to recognize these two outstanding women for their longtime service to our organization. They both exemplify the Women’s Auxiliary mission of ‘Doing the Most Good’ through volunteerism and fundraising, and we thank them for their many years of service.”
With the cold weather blanketing the area, why not take advantage of staying indoors and edit your wardrobe? Who knows? Your donation might catch event producer Jan Strimple’s eye and find its way on the runway.
Since that first fashion show and luncheon in 1993, The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary has raised over $10M to be used by the 14 area Salvation Army facilities.
