Pumpkins have a two-fold purpose this time of year. Last month they brought out the creativity resulting in terrific jack-o’-lanterns. Now, they’re being recycled into pumpkin pies just in time for Thanksgiving that’s just days away.
And some of the best pies are going to be part of the VNA’s Sixth Annual Power of Pie. For just $25, you have your choice of a pumpkin pie, a Texas pecan pie or a “Zero Calorie Pie*.”
And these pies are coming from some of the area’s top and most generous bakers like Bisous-Bisous Patisserie, Cafe Momentum, Collin College, Crossroads Diner, Embassy Suites by Hilton, Empire Baking Company, Fearing’s Restaurant, Frosted Art Bakery, Haute Sweets Patisserie, Knife, La Duni Latin Kitchen, Lakewood Country Club, Neiman Marcus, Norma’s Cafe, Northwood Club, Oddfellows, Pink Apron Pastry, Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek, The Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Uncle Willie’s Pies and Wolfgang Puck Catering.
And 100% of the funds cooked up thanks to the pies will “provide comfort and care for senior neighbors through Meals on Wheels, Hospice and Palliative Care.”
You can order online here and pick up your pie(s) just in time on Tuesday, November 20, or Wednesday, November 21, for turkey day depending upon the pick-up location.
A new addition to this year’s program is Westrock Coffee Company’s providing coffee samples with the purchase of pies.
BTW, since it’s the kick-off for the season of giving, why not buy pies to surprise your neighbors, friends and family. After all, you can never underestimate the “power of pie.”
Downside is that the deadline for ordering is Thursday, November 15. Here’s the link to place your order(s).
