As the clouds starting unloading tear drops, the Texas Discovery Gardens‘ 2018 Flora Award patron party patrons were nicely ensconced in Karen and Stephen Jones‘s old digs. While Flora awardees Allie Beth and Pierce Allman posed for photos with 2018 Co-Chairs Laura Chancellor Black and Kelly Cantu Dees, Pierce was asked how he remembered his wife’s name.
Simple! It’s on signs everywhere.
As Texas Discovery Gardens Executive Director Dick Davis put it, “If there is a worthy cause in Dallas, chances are the Allmans have supported it in a meaningful and generous way. While the Allmans don’t seek recognition, those of us in the nonprofit world seek every public opportunity to show our gratitude. That they would allow us to honor them for their decades of philanthropic efforts is gratifying beyond words. Yet, we plan to find just the right words at the 2018 Flora Award Gala.”
Serving as 2018 honorary co-chairs for the jade anniversary of the fundraiser are 2017 Flora Awardees Betty Slaven, Janet Smith and Marilyn Waisanen.
Laura and Kelly revealed to the crowd including 2017 Co-Chairs Kathryn Febbroriello, Angela Shank and Amelia Valz, Mary Ann Cree that the black-tie fundraiser would take place on Thursday, October 25, following the State Fair at Texas Discovery Gardens. Tickets start at $300.
Allie Beth and Pierce will join a pretty impressive collection of recipients including Bettye Slaven, Janet Smith, Marilyn Waisanen, Myrna and Bob Schlegel, Denise and Ray Nixon, Suzy and Tom Rhodes, Jan Pickens, Barbara Hunt Crow, Ellen and John McStay, Ebby Halliday Acers, Lindalyn Adams, Peggy and Carl Sewell, Louise Spence Griffeth, Marilyn Augur, J.L.
