There was no doubt that a grand scene was taking place in between NorthPark’s Neiman’s Court and Nordstrom’s Court on Wednesday, September 12. Right in front of CH Carolina Herrera was “The Fabric of Opera” — a dazzling exhibition of Dallas Opera costumes.
And the timing couldn’t have been more perfectly in sync with the First Sight First Night patron party inside CH.

While First Sight Chair Joyce Goss and First Night Co-Chair Shelle Sills greeted guests, new Dallas Opera Executive Director Ian Derrer found himself greeting guests like The Dallas Opera Board Chair Lynn McBee, Nancy Nasher, Gae Whitener, Martha Allday and First Sight First Night Honorary Co-Chairs Marnie and Kern Wildenthal.

Speaking of the Wildenthals, Kern was sporting a new hair style. Seems that while the duo had been on their latest jaunt, Kern had tried a less slick down look. It met with Marnie’s approval and has stuck.
Also greeting folks in front of the salon was Don Winspear. When told that wife Ellen Winspear was checking out the racks inside the store, he laughed and claimed that she had already spent her month’s quota.
Others in the crowd were sisters Sabina Brady and Bela Cooley, who is co-chairing Dallas CASA’s Champions for Children Dinner; past 1st Sight Co-Chair Rhonda Marcus; Kristen Gibbins, who had just finished NorthPark’s fall fashion campaign and last year’s St. Valentine’s Day Fashion Show Co-Chairs Nancy Gopez and Roz Colombo that was held at NorthPark’s CenterPark Garden.
In the meantime, Joyce and Shelle report that plans are all in line for The Dallas Opera’s two-day fundraiser to kick off with CH Carolina Herrera fashions onstage at the Winspear Opera House followed by a seated luncheon on Thursday, October 11. The following night First Night will return to the Winspear with a pre-performance seated dinner followed by “The Flying Dutchman” and an after-party.
