Sold-Out Alert!: 2018 Fur Ball

Sep 12, 2018 1:30 PM by Jeanne Prejean

Fur Ball*

If you had promised your pooch or kitty that you were going to buy a ticket and support their SPCA pals by going to the Fur Ball on Saturday, September 22, you’re barking up a sold out tree. Celebrating the SPCA’s 80th anniversary, the gala at the Hyatt Regency Dallas with Laura and George Bush serving as honorary co-chairs is a done deal.

Laura Bush, Freddy and George W. Bush*

BTW, back in White House days the Bushes were well known for having Scotties and a black cat. But when Barney (2000-2012) and Miss Beazley (2004-2014) crossed Rainbow Bridge, the former first couple discovered rescued canines were hot dogs, too, thanks to SPCA resident Freddy in 2016.

Freddy, who is named after the W’s Chief of Staff Freddy Ford, is living with the Bushes and their kitties Bernie and Bob. The felines replaced White House black cat India that passed away in 2009 at the ripe old age of 18. Bernie is actually daughter Jenna Bush Hager’s cat, while Bob was found at the family ranch in Crawford. The former barn cat is now happily a city dweller.

So, unless you can write a very impressive check or get lucky on the wait list, you’re too late to the Fur Ball.
