JUST IN: 2019 Mad Hatter’s Leadership Announced With Roots in McKinney

Sep 10, 2018 11:30 AM by Jeanne Prejean

Dallas Arboretum Women’s Council President Linda Spina just released the first wave of plans for the 31st Annual Mad Hatter’s Tea. The McKinney resident has commandeered a couple of her pals — Sharla Bush and Terry Irby — to co-chair the annual fundraiser benefiting A Woman’s Garden.

The trio has proven to be veterans when it comes to the Mad Hatter’s festivities. When Linda chaired it in 2017, Sharla was vice chair. Terry took home the “Best Botanical” award in 2017.

The ladies have already locked down Thursday, April 11, for the champagne reception in the Ginsburg Plaza with judging of head turning tops followed by the fashion show of Tootsies clothes produced by Jan Strimple. After the announcement of the judges’ decisions of who goes home with the prizes, the winners and good-sport losers will adjourn to the draped tents overlooking White Rock Lake for a seated luncheon.

Stay tuned. In the weeks ahead, additional details will be revealed including the honorary chair, the theme, the hat categories, the judges and other surprises.

While patron tickets are going for $350, a limited number of individual tickets will be $250. But they won’t be available until the spring.
