While the Bed Bath & Beyond and Office Depot staffs are bracing up for the onslaught of back-to-school shoppers, folks at the Communities Foundation of Texas are in the final stages preparing for their annual mega one-day money raiser — North Texas Giving Day.
It’s hard to imagine that first outing in 2009, when 6.5K gifts resulted in $4M for just 345 nonprofits. And then it took off in the following couple of years so much so that it blew up the website and downed the phone lines. Last year the scorecard was 137K gifts totaling $39M for 2,723 nonprofits.
This year they’ve pulled out more bells and whistles, like having former first lady Laura Bush to celebrate the most generous day of the year in these parts.
If you’re wondering if your fav nonprofit is part of the fun and fundraising, you can check out the 2,200+ on the North Texas Giving Day “Nonprofit List.”
Or, if you’re thinking about expanding your charitable world, you just might find a sweetheart newbie in the days ahead in the MySweetCharity Booster series that is being provided through the generosity of NorthPark Center and starts on Monday.
