It seemed just like yesterday that Dallas Opera CEO Keith Cerny dropped the bomb that he was turning in his resignation and heading up north to the Calgary Opera to replace the organization’s retiring CEO Bob McPhee. That was eight months ago. Well, leave it to Keith to drop another surprise package telling the Calgary Opera that he was resigning because the back-and-forth to his family in Dallas from Canada “put a much greater than anticipated strain on me and my family back in Texas.” Adding to the surprise announcement was that Keith had landed the position of president/CEO for the Fort Worth Symphony.
Another surprise resignation came from Addison’s WaterTower Theatre yesterday when Managing Director Nick Even resigned. Since taking over the managerial role a year ago, Nick has seen the Addison theatre receive some thumbs-up reviews from Dallas Morning News theater critic Nancy Churnin for the change of direction put into place by Artistic Director Joanie Schultz.
