Leave it to the Cattle Baronesses to close down the spring fundraising season. Before graduations, weddings and summer vacation kicked into play, 2018 CBB Co-Chairs Katy Bock and Jonika Nix gathered the big spenders for the annual Trailblazer’s get together on Thursday, May 17, hosted by Sewell at David Barnes‘ Park Cities French traditional mansion.
But don’t go thinking old fogy traditionalist. This place was so cool with its backyard complete with pool, firepit, party terrace and, of course, food station and bar to help support the indoor feasting for guests like Annika and Dennis Cail, Isabell Novakov, Laura and Dennis Moon, Amy Turner, Diana Hamilton, Nancy Gopez, Anne Davidson, Mark Porter, KJ Sanger, Doris Jacobs, Teffy Jacobs and Lee Traweek.
Talk of the night included Elizabeth and Alex Laurenzi accepting high fives over the stellar reviews of their Smoky Rose. Alex admitted that expansion was in the horizon. Were they going to take over more acreage across from the Dallas Arboretum? Heck, no. Think others places, but they were in the early stages of scouting. Alex said that Elizabeth was being convinced to take on more of a role in the business. Will she be schlepping tables? According to Elizabeth, “No!” … Lee Bailey was already packed for her helicoptering in Europe… Lisa Ogle was back from an Italian excursion with husband Bill and a handful of other couples… Anne Stodghill has been spending her post-CBB co-chairing days learning the ins and outs of jewelry design as well as collecting recipes for a cookbook. Word has it that she’s already been locked down to chair a 2019 fundraiser. More about that later.
Anne’s CBB co-chair Sunie Solomon was solo. Husband Steve Solomon was working and told her she’d probably be asleep by the time he got home… 2018 CBB Co-Chair husbands Lawrence Bock and Corky Nix were indoors while their wives were posing for photos outside… Traiblazers Co-Chairs Hadley Galt and Nikki Webb with cowgirl hat firmly in place were at the front door greeting guests as their arrived and bidding them adieu as they hit the trail.
