The Dallas Pi Beta Phi‘s “Ungala” at Rachael and Bob Dedman‘s Preston Hollow estate lucked out on Tuesday, April 17. The chilly temperatures had been replaced by warmer weather. But that change of temps was due to winds blowing through that put a bit of a challenge for the use of the backyard terrace.
But perhaps Mother Nature thought that since the theme was “Celestial Celebration,” the sisters could take to the skies like angels.
Organizers, realizing that the group was staying put in the house due to gusts, moved the servers with beverages and food to the terrace for the guests to eventually follow.
Since the “Celestial Celebration” invite had requested that the guests wear something fitting a celestial mood, the gathering of white looked like Clorox could have sponsored the event, which included Nancy Casteel, Nancy Dedman, Jill Smith, Linda Yates, Ellen Porter, Sandra Estess, Carol Dalton, Eileen Nash and Billy Leigh Rippey with her daughters Paige Baten-Locke and Tricia Besing. Even Bruce Monning supported his gals (Co-Chairs Anne Monning and Sarah Monning Schoellkopf) by wearing an off-white suit. Cara French was with mother Prissy Gravely, who was sporting sunglasses due to recent cataract surgery; Penny Tower in an off-white/gold outfit admitted that this was as white as her wardrobe would get.
However, the most loyal to the evening’s theme was Claire Buie Chaney, who looked like a cross between cupid and an angel in white with a Pi Phi arrow and donning a halo.
