Regardless of the day, finding a parking place at Highland Park Village at dusk is like trying to find a contact lens in a shag rug. But on Tuesday, April 24, the Equest mini-ambassadors had absolutely no problem. They just planted their hooves on the sidewalk in front of Ralph Lauren and accommodated one and all for photo opps. Amazingly the twosome looked flawless despite having been the show ponies Friday night at the Equest Gala.
Also looking fresh as a dewy morning was Equest CEO Lili Kellogg, who admitted that the gala at The Bomb Factory even had her dancing the night away around midnight.
But on this occasion it was another Equest fundraiser that was on the radar. It was the Equest Fashion Show and Luncheon hosted by the Equest Women’s Auxiliary with guests like KJ Sanger, Nancy Gopez, Rachel Michell and Nikki Webb.
Within an hour the Polo mannequins held their territory while guests played North Texas second most favorite indoor game — shopping. What’s the first? Why fundraising, of course! What were you thinking?
Equest Women’s Auxiliary President Kara Axley and Luncheon Chair Heather Randall reported that the event would feature fashions from Highland Park Village with Event Producer Jan Strimple on Tuesday, October 2, at the helm at Brook Hollow Golf Club.
This year’s honorary chair would be Peggy Sewell with longtime fundraising go-to Elsa Norwood receiving the Equest Award For Community Service.
Looking around the room, Auxiliary Founder Louise Griffith was amazed at all the young women in attendance. She then told Prissy Gravely that husband Guy Griffith would be going on his first airplane trip in three years. He hadn’t wanted to be separated from Mother Earth while battling cancer. Now, feeling that he was on the mend, he felt it was indeed time to hit the skies for a relative’s wedding.
Prissy Gravely, who co-chaired the luncheon with her daughter Kara French in 2012, reported that thanks to her cataract surgery colors were amazingly more apparent. She’s due to the second eye to go through the transformation in May.
