The Cain sisters (Nancy Cain Marcus and Nelda Cain Pickens) must be akin to Tom Sawyer. When they undertake a project, they make it so much fun that others just naturally want to join in the effort. And their most recent undertaking — 3rd Annual Grow the Grove — has drawn quite a crew to raise funds for Cristo Rey Dallas.
Joining the sisters are Honorary Co-Chairs Patty and Mark Langdale, Entertainment Co-Chairs Alex and Ford Halbardier and Underwriting Co-Chairs Liza and Will Lee, Maryann and Frank Mihalopoulos and Joyce and Larry Lacerte.
According to Cristo Rey Dallas President Kelby Woodard, “We are so grateful to these extraordinary individuals for serving as our event leadership for the third annual Grow The Grove benefiting Cristo Rey Dallas. With their expertise and strong ties to the Dallas community, we know we are poised for our most successful fundraiser to date.”
Plans call for the event to take place on Saturday, November 10, at Sixty Five Hundred. And the attire is typical of the town-and-country Cain — denim to dresses. Of course, there will be “fabulous auction items, all types of refreshments and entertainment.” But this one will also include “interactive, student-led displays.”
Another highlight of the evening will be the celebration of “the service of the Honorable Mike Rawlings, City of Dallas Mayor,” and father of former Cristo Rey Dallas Corporate Work Study Program Executive Director Gunnar Rawlings. Mike’s support of Cristo Rey Dallas fits into the emphasis that he has placed on education, both personally and professionally.
