It was just a few past 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 22, when Children’s Cancer Fund Executive Board President Becky Lewis walked into Cornelia and Ralph Heins’ stately Highland Park mansion for the Children’s Cancer Fund’s Annual Gala patron party. The house appeared to be void of any people. She looked around a little baffled when another guest asked, “Was I wrong that the party started at 7?” Becky said that their information was indeed correct and noted that there were many cars already parked out front. Still where were the people?
Upon hearing sounds in the left of the entry, Becky and her companions walked toward the noise. It was the catering staff working away in the kitchen. The lost guests were told the party was in the backyard. Leading the parade, Becky headed back through the entry hall to the living room with two closed French doors. One was blocked by a planter on the terrace. The other looked pretty locked. But adjoining the room was a library with a door that opened to the festivities for the Friday, April 27th fundraising fashion show and dinner at the Hyatt Regency Dallas with cancer kids champs and celebs walking the runway.
With incredibly perfect 70-degree weathers and just the slightest breeze, the grounds were spectacular.

Of course, it didn’t hurt to have Marianne and Honorary Co-Chair Roger Staubach in the crowd along with Dr. Karen Bradshaw and her husband Children’s Cancer Fund Founder Fred Shapiro.

Adding frosting to the occasion was the arrival of Children’s Cancer Fund Annual Gala Co-Chairs Hollie Siglin and Candice Romo, both looking fabulous and charming one and all. One would never have guessed that Candice’s husband, Tony Romo, hadn’t had such a great day. Poor thang had come in second to the bottom tying for 115th place at the Corales Puntacana Resort and Club Championship in the Dominican Republic.
