The Greater Dallas Suicide Prevention Coalition will come together from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 15 (like tomorrow), at Dallas City Hall to support last week’s National Suicide Prevention Week. In addition to Texas Rangers’ Eric Nadel, Dallas County Commissioner Dr. Theresa Daniel and Cumulus Media Public Affairs Director Hondo Robertson speaking, there will be hundreds of pairs of shoes “representing the more than 500 lives lost last year to suicide.”
The Coalition is made up of Suicide and Crisis Center of North Texas, NAMI Dallas, the Dallas VA, AIDS Arms, Bank of America, The Senior Source, Dallas Police Department Crisis Intervention, Green Oaks Hospital, Mental Health America of Greater Dallas, The Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse and ValueOptions.
To support the efforts of the Suicide and Crisis Center of North Texas, its annual fundraiser — Fashion Stars For A Cause — is making news. Event Founder Yvonne Crum has reported that the presentation of the FSFAC will take place on Friday, March 24, at the Dallas Country Club.
As for the lineup of 2017 Fashion Stars, who will be helping to grow awareness of suicide and selling raffle tickets for the next six-and-a-half months, they are Jenny Anchondo, Jordi Bostock, Debbie Stout Elchami, Abra L. Garrett, Shay Geyer, Tavia Hunt, LaToya Jones, Carinthia Kishaba, Maria Luce, Donna Richardson, Jennifer Smith and Sara Dawn Wilkins.
