While it seemed like most folks had abandoned North Texas for their “suburb” haunts in Colorado on Thursday, July 28, ’twas not so.
More than 160 and less than a gazillion folks like Kathryn Knight and her daughter Summer Knight, Juliette Coulter and Regina Bruce filled the parking lot outside of NorthPark’s Pirch for the closing party of the 21st Parade of Playhouses benefiting Dallas CASA, despite the fact that the “parade” wouldn’t really be a done deal until Sunday, July 31.
From the Cadillac Escalade parked out front to the soak tub just inside the doorway, the scene was set for luxury. If anyone had thought their own fabuloso palazzo was heaven, they were having second thoughts with the tiles, soaking tubs, pizza ovens and other “to-die-for” perks filling Pirch. Around each corner was something that was so pamper-oriented, it made going home to the same-old steam shower seem regretful.
But the night was to celebrate the playhouses and rightly so. Longtime PoP loyalists/sponsors/Honorary Co-Chairs Angela and Jim Thompson along with Paula and Scott Orr and Crest Cadillac/Crest Infiniti’s Jana and Mike Brosin were more than pleased to learn that playhouse raffle tickets and text voting were ahead of last year… and last year’s was a gangbuster. Little did organizers know that a total of 15,546 raffle tickets would be the final count!
Still another fund generator was “Sanctuary,” where for the $25 purchase of a rubber duck, guests could claim a donated bottle of wine that cost a heck of a lot more than $25.
