Poor old Jerry Seinfeld. He sold off 17 of his classic Porsches and Bugs back on March 11. The projected estimate for the auction was a whopping $32M, but it only brought in $22M. But don’t go feeling way too sorry for Jerry. He’s still the comedian/writer/actor that pulls ‘em in whenever he hits the road.
And that’s exactly what’s gonna happen on Saturday, September 10, at the Winspear for “A Night to Remember.”
Yup, those wonderful folks — Co-Chairs Cindy and Scott Collier and Kara and Ross Miller — who have brought Steve Martin, Diana Ross, Aretha Franklin, Lyle Lovett and Hall & Oates in the past five years benefiting CitySquare have arranged to have Jerry in town for a one-night-only stand-up.
But this year the foursome have added Wendy and Boyd Messmann and Tiffany and Brandon Hawkins to join the co-chairing in raising the curtain and the funds. (“A Night to Remember” trivia: Wendy and Boyd co-chaired with Cindy and Scott back in 2011 when Jay Leno was the headliner.)
According to CitySquare Chief Development Officer Shawn Wills, “We have found a winning combination and are thrilled that the Colliers, Millers, Messmanns and Hawkins are teaming up to benefit CitySquare again. They have been instrumental in growing A Night to Remember into the one of the city’s most successful events.”
In keeping with the election mayhem in progress this year, this year’s theme is “Seinfeld for CitySquare 2016.”
Tickets don’t go on sale until Wednesday, April 13, but sponsorships are available. And, since it is Seinfeld, the sponsorship levels have been tagged with humor (“Yada Yada Yada”, “No Soup for You”, “Hello…Newman”, “The Double Dipper” and “The Close Talker”).
Suggestion: This time the sponsorship opps should be taken seriously, since last year’s Hall and Oates concert was a done deal within a week of going on sale. Rumor has it that ticket availability may be scant at best.
