Margaret and Glenn Solomon opened their wonderful home for the Dallas Historical Society’s Awards For Excellence patron party on Wednesday, October 28.

While some guests like Lynn and Allan McBee could only make a drop-by because of the dinner at NorthPark Neiman’s, others like Cindy and Andy Clendenen, Kelli and Gerald Ford, and Stephanie and Robert Haley got a chance to wander the backyard and to learn about the Thursday, November 19th Awards for Excellence luncheon at the Fairmont.

Kit Sawers is chairing the event with Liza and Will Lee serving as honorary co-chairs. This year’s presentation will have an additional category: Sports Leadership. It will be going to Dallas native/Heisman Trophy winner/most recent Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee Tim Brown. Just last month Mayor Mike Rawlings announced that November 6th would be Tim Brown Day in the city of Dallas. It’s been quite a year for the Woodrow Wilson grad.
Just as impressive are the other recipients of the DHS awards including

- Arts Leadership — Gigi Antoni
- Business — Richard Eiseman Jr.
- Creative Arts — Bill Booziotis
- Education — Marnie Wildenthal
- Health/Science — Dr. Robert Haley
- Humanities — The Rev. Dr. Ronald E. Jones
- Humanities/History — Cynthia Salzman Mondell and Allen Mondell
- Philanthropy — Gerald Ford
- Volunteer Community Leadership — Vikki Martin and the Ferguson Road Initiative
- Jubilee History Makers — Matrice and Ron Kirk
If you haven’t been to this luncheon, you’ve missed meeting and learning about people who have been outstanding in their fields. Plus, you haven’t enjoyed the traditional A.C. Greene toast.
