Ran into Kit and Kemp Sawers at DFW International on Friday, July 7. There weren’t on their way to the mountains or the breezy beaches. Nope. They were headed to Canton, Ohio, with big smiles on their faces, suitcases packet and Kit wearing a twinkle in her eye.
Hello? What was going on in Canton? It was the Pro Football Hall of Fame induction. Seems 2015 inductee Charles Haley had invited K&K to attend. They were also going to take in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland.
But what did all this have to do with Dallas fundraising? Well, Kit fessed up that she would be chairing the Dallas Historical Society’s 2015 Awards for Excellence (AFE).
So, who would be the honorees? Kit wasn’t talking, but AFE Advisor/Coordinator Louise Caldwell has come across with the deets.
The Hockaday School Interim Headmistress Liza Lee and her husband Will Lee will be the honorary co-chairs. As for the honorees, hold on to your buttons. First, let’s get the housekeeping details established. The lunch including the legendary A.C. Greene champagne toast will take place at The Fairmont on Thursday, November 19.
Now, for the 2015 AFE recipients:

Ironically, there’s a new category this year — the Sports Leadership Award. Why ironic? Because it will be presented to Haley’s fellow inductee Tim Brown. It was established to recognize an individual who has brought distinction or achievement to team or individual sports as an athlete, coach, journalist, promoter or sports advocate. No wonder Kit had that twinkle in her eye.
