KDFW4’s Calvert Collins Named Methodist Health System Public Relations Manager

Jul 8, 2015 3:30 PM by Jeanne Prejean

Reporter Calvert Collins will be cleaning out her desk at KDFW4 Friday, July 17. She’s leaving the “glitz and glamour” of the night time beat of news coverage for the healthcare industry biz. Seems she was made an offer by Methodist Health System to be its public relations manager and just couldn’t say, “No.”

In addition to getting “an offer I couldn’t refuse,” she’ll also have hours that are more conducive to being a wife and a mom to year-and-a-half-year-old baby Vivienne.

According to Methodist Health System Assistant VP of External Relations Stacy Covitz, Calvert “has more than 10 years reporting and newsgathering in Dallas, Las Vegas and Omaha. I know that she’s going to excel at securing media coverage and working with our team to help everyone work with reporters and news desks. Calvert also will be a great addition to our Shine team. While at the University of Missouri’s School of Journalism, before settling into the broadcast path, she also studied print/magazine and worked on award-winning publications. She is skilled at writing for broadcast and print and used to writing creative yet accurate copy under fast deadlines.”

A native Dallasite, Calvert’s start date according to Uncle Barky is Monday, July 27.
