According to animal- and environment-loving Jocelyn White,
“As chairman of the board of SPCA of Texas, my wish is that all rescue groups and shelters and citizens will join us in our Mission: To provide every animal with exceptional care and a loving home. It is our responsibility as human beings to recognize their intelligence and emotions and care for them. They depend on us! And the SPCA of Texas depends totally on donations, receiving no funds from the City or ASPCA, which is based in New York City.
“And, as chairman of the Board of Equest, my hope is that in the coming year as we begin our services for South Dallas individuals at The Texas Horse Park and continue our work expanding our Wylie facility into our new Rockwall property, that more people will support our work. Equest provides equine-assisted therapy for those with physical, mental, and emotional disabilities. This includes people with Autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy as well as veterans suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress.
“These are worthy charities which depend entirely on local donations to achieve the above goals. And both can always use volunteers.
“And, finally, as a director of The Dallas Arboretum, people looking for a happy place need look no further than The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden. It is one of the true treasures of the City of Dallas.”
