Remember May? It’s that marvy month that’s wedged in between winter’s frozen tundra and summer’s scalded earth. Perhaps that’s why Mother’s Day was plopped down in that month. Speaking of Mother’s Day, Genesis Women’s Shelter Executive Director Susan Jenevein just sent word about the keynote speaker.
Oh, boy!
Mark Tuesday, May 5, because you’re gonna want to be one of the 2,000 to see and hear California former first lady/NBC News special anchor/best-selling author/too much to list here Maria Shriver.

Yup, you saw it here. Luncheon Chair Kathy Helm has arranged for Maria, whose brother/Best Buddies Anthony Kennedy Shriver and her daughter Katherine Schwarzenegger have been favs with locals of late, to help raise funds for Genesis’s 30 years of service.
“We think Maria Shriver, a Peabody and Emmy-winning journalist and producer, a six-time New York Times best-selling author, a former First Lady of California, a current NBC News Special Anchor, and a mother of four, is the perfect keynote speaker for our Annual Luncheon. We are excited to welcome Ms. Shriver as we honor 30 years of serving women and children who are victims of domestic violence.”
Suggestion: somebody send a note to Maria’s buddy, former Dallas Times Herald scribe/Armani exec/film producer Al Ruddy’s better half Wanda McDaniel, to return to Dallas for the event. Lots of her old buds would love to catch up.
