UPDATE: Lady and The Scamp have arrived in Utah. Charles and Ashlie are winging it back to Dallas and hope to land around midnight. It was a long day, but a good one.
While others were putting on their makeup or doing a quick pickup at Starbucks this morning, a handful of Dallas Animal Service staffers and volunteers were shivering in the cold at Addison airport to see off Lady and The Scamp.
These two canine streetwalkers have lived quite a life since their children (Stormy, Sampson and Sadie) became media stars and were adopted. Since then they have been in lock-down at Dallas Animal Services, spayed/neutered, microchipped and been accepted at Best Friends Sanctuary in Utah.
Now, the challenge of flying them was made possible thanks to Jan Haynes providing a plane, pilot Charles Cornwell and his wife Ashlie offering to chauffeur the twosome to their destination and the generosity of so many to pay for the gasoline.
Charles and the dedicated DAS staff somehow managed to fit the pooches’ crates into the Piper Saratoga just perfectly. Lady looked a bit worried. This was her first time to fly. Like most guys, The Scamp tried to be cool.
According to the DAS folks, Lady and The Scamp are smart. Hopefully, with a bit of Best Friends rehabbing, they’ll soon be adopted and spoiled rotten.
After you enjoy that news, let’s roll up our sleeves and tackle the next “Must Do” on the list.

Happy to report Papa Stormy (formerly Scamp) has been adopted and is settling into his new forever home. He was named Papa Stormy at Best Friends and so we kept the name, just seems so fitting considering his history. We have had him now for 2 weeks. He is so sweet, amazingly smart, handsome and a complete lover! Not sure why he did not find a home in Dallas but we are grateful he didn\’t and ended up at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary where we found him. He is currently undergoing heart worm treatment and prognosis looks good. We are the lucky ones to adopt him. Thank you for all you did to get him there. I wanted to share that this story has a very happy ending!
