According to Luncheon Chair Kim Bannister and The Elisa Project Executive Director Kimberly Martinez, The Elisa Project’s wish is
“The holiday season is when wishes come true and miracles happen. I believe in wishes and miracles, so I’m asking for your help. The Elisa Project, a non-profit that is dedicated to saving the lives of those who are suffering with eating disorder illnesses, is struggling to meet community demand for awareness and prevention education. Because everyone knows someone who is struggling with depression, low self-esteem or negative body-image, The Elisa Project’s programs (that focuses on these issues) have a waiting list of students to train.
“For that someone in your life who has everything, please purchase a table or tickets to our 9th Annual Waves of Change – Life Lessons Luncheon, chaired by Kim Bannister on March 26, 2014. Our luncheon speaker is seven-time Olympic medal winner, Amanda Beard.
“Amanda will speak frankly about how low self-esteem can lead to toxic relationships, clinical depression and self-destructive behavior. In her late teens, with pressures to remain thin, Amanda became bulimic, abused drugs and alcohol and began cutting herself. Through the renewed faith in herself and with support from family and friends, Amanda survived her battle and will join us to share her compelling story of a woman who gained the strength to live as bravely out of the water as she did in it. All proceeds from our fabulous day will go directly to help save lives.
“If you know someone who is suffering from mental health issues and needs help or for additional information about our event, please visit our website at www.theelisaproject.org or call 214.369.5222. You can make a difference today!”
