All this icy stuff has been just a warm-up for this Friday. Word has just arrived about the Klyde Warren Park ice skating rink:
“We are excited to announce that Klyde Warren Park will open a skating rink this Friday, Dec. 13. The rink, which is sponsored by Norman Green, former owner of the Dallas Stars, and his wife Kelly, will be open to the public through the end of January and will be on the Ginsburg Family Great Lawn, right by the children’s park.”
For the official opening at 11 a.m. on Friday, Councilman Philip Kingston and others will speak. Then the “inaugural skate” will feature the St. Philip’s School kiddos and the cast from the “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, The Musical”.
BTW, the rest of Friday, skating will be free. The following Saturday and Sunday, complimentary skate lessons will be available.
As for the skates, you can bring your own or rent them for $5 weekdays and $10 on weekends. But remember this weekend, they’re free — our favorite four-letter word.
