“On September 19, 2013, Rays of Light where SPECIAL children shine! will participate in North Texas Giving Day. As many of the MySweetCharity readers have learned, North Texas Giving Day is an annual one-day DonorBridge-powered fundraising event through Communities Foundation of Texas. On this special day, from 7 a.m. until midnight, people interested in making an online donation to Rays of Light will have an opportunity to do so in a quick and easy way.

“This special day gives Rays of Light the opportunity to raise funds to provide respite care to many more special families in our community through its free respite care program called Night Lights. To date, Night Lights provides over 70 parents the opportunity to receive four free hours to themselves each month and their children the opportunity to socialize and interact with other children – to just be kids!!  Currently, we have over 150 special kids and their siblings participating in our Night Lights program, which takes place on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Fridays of each month (excluding January and July) from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. on the campus of Lovers Lane United Methodist Church.  In September 2014, Rays of Light will add its fourth night of care, giving 50 more children the opportunity to participate!

“Please help us reach our fundraising goal of $100,000. Any donation of $25 and above will help us reach our fundraising goal and make our organization eligible for the Giving Day bonus prize money. Last year, thanks to the generosity of our donors, Rays of Light received $42,146.54, which included bonus funds. Out of nearly 600 small nonprofits that participated in North Texas Giving Day (with annual budgets of less than $1 million), Rays of Light had the 8th highest number of gifts–159!  Nearly one-third of our donations were from individuals who had never given to Rays of Light before!  Because of the generosity of our donors, Rays of Light has provided approximately 9,000 hours of respite care to our special families from September 2012 to date.

“So please mark your calendar for September 19, go to www.donorbridgetx.org,  search for “Rays of Light” under “Nonprofits,” select a dollar amount and click “donate now.”  Your donation will make a huge difference in the lives of many more special families in our community.

“We welcome you to visit our website, www.raysoflightdallas.org, and see for yourself what an impact your donation will make. Also, mark your calendar for April 25, 2014 and join us for the Rays of Light’s 4th Annual Gala to be held at The Dallas Country Club.”
