With Syria on all the front pages of newspapers and the #1 topic of international newscasts, the days and weeks ahead will be world-changing. All the more interesting to have Gen. Wesley Clark (ret.) as the guest speaker at The Billiard Ball on Saturday, October 19, at the Ritz-Carlton.
But that wasn’t the reason that Ball Co-Chairs Gina and Ken Betts arranged to have him at the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Dallas fundraiser. Gen. Clark, in addition to an exemplary record in the military ranging from Vietnam to Supreme Allied Commander and Commander in Chief of the U.S. European Command and a run for the Democratic nomination for president, was a member of the Little Rock Boys & Girls Club more than 40 years ago.
According to the West Point valedictorian/Rhodes Scholar/White House Fellow, “I always go back to lessons learned at the Club. We discovered there was something higher than ourselves, and that giving back to others was what really mattered.”
In addition to Clark, Lee Ann and Alan White will receive the Robert H. Dedman Lifetime Achievement Award and PWC will be presented the Corporate Leadership Award.
Since its inception in 2004, the Robert H. Dedman Lifetime Achievement Award has been presented to Ruth Altshuler, Norman Brinker, Linda Pitts Custard, Caren Prothro, Dee and Charles Wyly Jr., Henry S. Miller Jr., Bill and Gay Solomon, Bobby Lyle and Barbara and Steve Durham.
Tickets start at $250 per person. However, discounts are available for former or enrolled military personnel ($200) and former and enrolled military BGC alum ($150). Ticket information is available via email or by calling 214.821.2950, Ext. 732.
