Heads Up For Thrift Studio’s Bargains Galore

Thrift Studio is truly one of the biggest, most humongous finds in shopping. Even if you don’t need furniture, you’ll want to check this one out. Last night was the sneak preview and mouths were gaping open at the price tags.

The markdowns brought back the memories of the days when Neiman’s Garage Sale had women following a man with a red pen slashing prices down.

Need a for instance?

This black-and-white bone inlay desk valued at $2,000 was on sale for $725.

Still too much for your blood. Then how about this navy desk with brass hardware for $295. That’s right. Not $1,295. . . $295.

It’s all a part of the Spring Thrift Studio benefiting Dwell with Dignity. For the next 30 days this “pop-up shop” at 1100 Slocum, Suite 590, in the Dallas Design Center will have all types of goodies for sale: headboards, rocking chairs, couches, coffee tables, chairs, etc. And the great thing is, the merchandise is ever-changing. When something is purchased, something else takes its place. Ah, so that means daily visits* may be required until May 18 when the Thrift Studio like Brigadoon disappears.

And to make the furniture more fabulous, designer-styled vignettes are staged plus a backroom where the orphan items wait for permanent owners.

The heroes that need to be recognized are the designers. Presenting sponsor One Kings Lane is joined by Horchow, DJ Lucy Wrubel for Peacock Alley, IBB Design Fine Furnishings, Square Foot Studio, Studio Ten 25 and William Christopher Design.

BTW, Dwell with Dignity is a non-profit organization of interior designers and volunteers dedicated to creating inspiring homes for families struggling with homelessness and poverty.

When you drop by and make your purchase, make sure to thank Lisa Robison and Kim Turner, who are the driving forces behind this project.

* Tuesday – Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Sunday noon to 5:30 p.m.
