She’s hardly been in town lately, but her influence has never stopped. Hopefully, she’ll be in town to collect her newest award.
Philanthropist and all-around good gal Nancy Rogers will be the first recipient of the Susan Schwartz Founders Award by Equest Therapeutic Horsemanship. The presentation will take place at the Triple Crown Gala on Saturday, April 20, at Park Lane Ranch and Equestrian Center.
Named after one of the Equest founders, who had the vision of equine therapy over 31 years ago, the award was created by Gala Chair/Equest Board member Jocelyn White “to honor and thank those who have helped make that dream thrive.”
According to Susan, “I was deeply touched and honored to learn about the Susan Schwartz Founder’s Award. Although my greatest reward has been witnessing the miracles that happen at Equest every day between our riders and their horses, I am thrilled that my name will be associated with the most generous and giving people in Texas. Giving does not simply refer to money, and Nancy Rogers has been generous beyond words with her time, resources and passion. I am looking forward to presenting her with the first annual Susan Schwartz Founder’s Award.”
Nancy, who rides herself, was one of the first to help Equest when the facility was vandalized a few years ago.
“Nancy has been a longtime supporter of Equest who has been so generous with her gifts that she was a logical and wonderful choice for the inaugural Susan Schwartz Founders Award,” said Jocelyn. “Her love of both horses and the work Equest does for children and adults with mental and physical disabilities has meant she has gone above and beyond for the program. Following a burglary at Equest several years ago, Nancy donated a state of the art security system and personally flew in her own team of engineers to install it. Equest relies upon it to this day.”
