In all the promotion of this Saturday’s “Dallas Men Against Abuse” rally, a certain sponsor was mentioned that caused the MySweetCharity elves to ponder over their jelly bean break. What kind of sponsorship and involvement would include Mary Kay, a company that is largely beauty-oriented. Would they be handing out samples of Satin Hands?
Ah, but that shows how little jelly-bean-eating elves know. MK Director of Corporate Communications and Corporate Social Responsibility (whew, what a title) Crayton Webb was Johnny-on-the-spot with an explanation: “Preventing domestic violence has been our core cause for Mary Kay in the U.S. for some time. There are a number of employees who are also part of the men’s auxiliary for Genesis Women’s Shelter, so supporting the Mayor’s rally seemed like a natural fit.”
In addition to contributing $25,000 to the event, MK has “invited/asked our Dallas-based employees and local members of our independent sales force to attend the rally, too. The Mary Kay Foundation will have a booth at the rally as well — its two key causes are ending domestic violence and cancers affecting women.”
The event starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Dallas City Hall Plaza. It may be a tad bit chilly, but this is a hot issue that needs to be confronted by real men. And if there is a man in your life, ask what they’ll be doing Saturday morning.
