It seems like Dallas has been suffering from a perfect storm of fundraising events. They all seem to happen in different parts of town at the same time. Ah, but two groups are having their events practically in the same block to coincide with each other.
Hmm, one must wonder if it was planned or if the scheduling gods were finally giving everyone a break.
So, what, where and when are these events happening?
They’re taking place Friday starting at 10 a.m. at the corner of Fitzhugh and Central. At that time the billboard there will reveal the Nexus campaign thanks to a cherry picker and Campaign Chair Linda Ivy. Don’t know if Linda is going to be running the cherry picker or on the billboard. But she’s going to have a whole bunch of her gal pals and Nexus supporters on hand. Expect it to be quite a hoop-la. Linda never does anything subtly.
The festivities are scheduled to be done by 11, but you know how those things go. It’s supposed to be a gorgeous day, so folks may stand around and chit chat.
But if they’re smart, they’ll just stroll up Fitzhugh to McKinney and lunch in the Hope Cottage parking lot. There will be a Food Truck Extravaganza (ChowHound, Three Lions, Belgian Waffle Co. and Gandolfo’s) taking place from 11:30 to 1:30 p.m. to commemorate National Adoption Month. A portion of your purchase will benefit Hope Cottage.
Just think. You’ll benefit two entirely different groups, get some fresh air, have a bite to eat and start the weekend off with a pat on the back.

Thank you all for coming to show your support of Nexus, and Linda Ivy. It was a great success to raise awareness about the serious problem of addiciton in Dallas. Thank you also to our 2012-2013 year-long support for this initiative from AT&T, CBS Outdoor, Parkland Hospital, McDonalds and Board President, Jan Madigan.
