Those folks at Hope Cottage have been busy. In addition to having a trio of interns on board (JJ Pearce’s Libby Burfoot and Oklahoma University’s Taylor Thomas and Eastern University’s Kathryn Sherwood, who are completing their Masters in Social Work at UT-Arlington), they’re planning for better-weather days. You know, when the sun shines and people go outdoors with less than three inches of outer clothing.
Think ahead and envision April 12. That’s when they’ll have food trucks set up in the Hope Cottage parking lot from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Lined up for the food line are Jack’s Chowhound and 3 Men and a Taco. In addition to a portion of the sales going to Hope Cottage, the service and food will be great. How do we know? Well, it seems that the two groups will be competing for customer happiness. There will be “voting jars,” where guests can vote for their fav food truck by tossing $$ into the jars. The winning foodie team “will have free use of the Hope Cottage parking lot on two other occasions.”
Now, as any good commercial retail leasing agent will tell you, “Location makes or breaks you,” and the corner of Fitzhugh and McKinney is oh-so visible and convenient with its multitude of parking spaces.
Suggestion: Instead of looking outside at the dismal day, mark your calendar for April 12!
Second suggestion: Think about buying a lunch to go for your accountant. S/he should be near the breaking point that day.
