Each morning the staff of Dallas Animal Services discovers many unusual things in its overnight drop box. Last Sunday they discovered a pregnant black lab. Not unusual, but wait. Her mouth and throat were embedded with porcupine quills. (If you can handle it, a picture of her mouth pre-surgery follows the jump.)
DAS saint Mark Cooper contacted Paws in the City after the DAS vets had removed the quills and asked if they could help rescue her (now named Barbie) and soon-to-be puppies. Yup, they did it and surprise! Six Seven furry puppies were born almost immediately. Mother and children are resting nicely and will soon be up for adoption.
This is just another situation in which the DAS and Paws in the City work together for the good of Dallas critters.
BTW, if you want to support Paws in the City and have a great time, it’s Top Hats & Tails time, one of the truly great evenings. Area celebs hit the dance floor to compete for the top-dog prize.
