KTVT-CH. 11’s Jason Allen reports that the United Way will announce this morning that neither the Boy Scouts Circle Ten Council nor the Volunteer Center of North Texas will receive funds this year. In the case of the Boy Scouts, it could mean a loss of $290,00 to $500,000. For the Volunteer Center, it will be $250,000 or 6% of its annual budget.
The reason for the two being cut out is due to a change in United Way’s criteria for receiving funds. According to Jason,
“The United Way has new criteria for funding that went into effect this year. Instead of funding only specific partner groups, the application process was opened up to all non-profits. Programs had to fit into one of three designated focus areas of education, income and health.”
According to the KTVT report, 20 groups got the word that they didn’t fit the new criteria.
