Friday’s Heroes & Handbags at the Ritz Carlton was jammed with ladies interested in bags and hearing from Linda Armstrong-Kelly. She was the perfect speaker for the event benefiting Heroes for Children that helps families with children suffering from cancer. As you probably know, Linda’s son, Lance, successfully battled cancer.
Little did the guests know that across town the members of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra were preparing to announce to-be-DSO CEO/President Bill Lively had turned in his resignation.
Ah, but back to the luncheon. It’s a well-known fact that ladies who love handbags, really love handbags. So one can only imagine the anticipation of the crowd about the silent auction for the one-of-a-kind and hot-of-the-runway handbags. These types of events can turn best friends into raging ruffians. Ah, this was a civilized brunch.
Following the silent auction, the ladies adjourned to the ballroom for brunch, a talk by Linda and to await the results of the silent auction. As event chair Skye Brewer handled the logistics, the room was filled to the brim with ladies including many mother/daughter teams like honorary chairs Peggy and Jacquelin Sewell. You do know that the love of handbags is hereditary, didn’t you?
Speaking of which, D’Andra Simmons was showing off her new bag designed by gal pal/handbag designer Marin Hopper that was overnighted just in time for the brunch. Warning: Don’t remind mother Dee Simmons how much the bag cost.
