Rumors were flying last night at the Crystal Charity Ball Fashion Show and Luncheon’s patron party that PaperCity‘s first lady of Dallas society, Brooke Hortenstine had turned in her resignation.
Today at the CCB Fashion Show, Ms. H confirmed the rumor. With her little boy entering school and being inundated with requests for projects, she realized it was time to shift gears.
“I don’t think they’re going to fill my position,” she said admitting that management would probably do some rearranging of responsibilities.
To which we say, “Who the heck could replace Brooke?”
Personal note: Brooke has not only set a marvelous standard for society coverage, but has also been a tireless and integral part of numerous charitable and nonprofit successes. Tip of the hat to you, Ms. Hortenstine.

Brooke has been an icon for many. She has contributed both professionally and personally to many aspects of the city. She brings a sense of style and unique perspective to every issue of Paper City. She approaches the charity/non-profit circuit with the same passion and dedication as her professional life. Her family deserves more time. I am thrilled to have had the chance to know her and work with her. I look forward to what is to come.

The only person more sad than me must be Rob Brinkley.
I can only speak for myself but Brooke has set the standard for graciousness in a business that is not about graciousness. IT has been an honor and a pleasure to work with her over the years, she has been a great friend to 2×2. Good luck Brooke.
