JUST IN: Tracy Rathbun’s Husband Will Celebrate His 20th Anniversary Heading Up The March Of Dimes Dallas Signature Chefs Auction

When the March of Dimes Dallas Signature Chefs Auction was just three years old back in 1997, there was young fellow who was making a name for himself in these parts. In addition to his day job of cooking in area restaurants, he offered to take the lead for the fundraiser.

Back then he was known as Kent Rathbun, but due to a legal quagmire he’s known nowadays as restaurateur “Tracy Rathbun’s husband.”

But the namelessness hasn’t stopped his support, involvement and leadership in the March of Dimes Dallas’ “premiere fundraising gala,” that will take place on Thursday, November 2, at the Omni Dallas Hotel.

To celebrate his 20th anniversary as Lead Chef of Dallas Signature Chefs, Mr. Rathbun has once again assembled some of the top and most generous chefs to provide chef samplings, as well as a live auction “featuring unique dining experiences.”

Mad Hatter’s Tea Judges Scored With Some Pretty Heady Escorts For The Arboretum’s Fundraiser Patron Party At Amy And Kelsey Warren’s Estate

As Pat Green surveyed Mad Hatter’s Tea Honorary Co-Chair Amy and Kelsey Warren’s backyard, he laughed when someone asked him if it was bigger than his spread in Fort Worth on Tuesday, April 25. What brought the country-western singer to Dallas was the Mad Hatter’s Tea patron party. No, he wasn’t going to be entertaining at the tea the following Thursday. But his adorable blonde wife Kori Green was going to be one of the category judges and Pat was playing the role of escort for the evening.

Still another escort was Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings, who was also playing a secondary role to wife Micki Rawlings, who also was to be a judge.

But wait! There was still another judge in the crowd overlooking the palatial grounds. It was restaurateur Tracy Rathbun with “her husband.” Tracy told “her husband” she had been amazed earlier in the day at how itty-bitty Simone Biles was at the “A Chance to Soar” benefiting Jonathan’s Place.

Others in the crowd were the Honorary Co-Chairs Amanda Hill, Women Council of the Dallas Arboretum President Melissa Lewis, evening’s chair Emilynn Wilson and husband Claude Wilson, Anne Stodghill, Phyllis and CJ Comu, Joani White and Jocelyn White, who would be emcee at Saturday’s Equest Gala as well as the Mad Hatter’s Tea.

Jewelry Designer/Attorney Kori Green (Aka Mrs. Pat Green) To Be The 8th Judge For Mad Hatter’s Tea Hat Competition

Under The Tuscan Sun*

Mad Hatter’s Tea 2017 Chair Linda Spina is going “green” with the announcement of the eighth judge for the “Under The Tuscan Sun” theme chapeau competition at the Dallas Arboretum on Thursday, April 27.

Hold on to your hats! It’s Kori Green. In addition to being a jewelry designer, an attorney and pretty darn cute, she’s also the wife of Grammy-nominated country singer/songwriter Pat Green and mom to their two kiddos Kellis Green and Rainey Green.

She got in the jewelry designing business while studying law at the University of Texas Law School. It provided her with a creative outlet. In addition to her professional activities and community involvement, she and Pat established the Pat Green Foundation.

Kori won’t be the only “greenie” in the judging line up for the eight categories. She’ll be joining Klyde Warren Park President Tara Green plus celebrity judge Rachel Zoe, restaurateurs Lynae Fearing and Tracy Rathbun (a judge team), Kerrently website editor Courtney Kerr, Kidd’s Kids CEO/Chief Happiness Officer Caroline Kraddick, fragrance guru Niven Morgan and Dallas First Lady Micki Rawlings.

Tickets for the annual eye-popping fundraiser for the Women’s Council of the Dallas Arboretum are available here.

MSC Opportunity: Gateway TO Opportunity Luncheon

“Sadly, more than 5,000 children in the Dallas area do not have a place to call home. These children rely on friends, relatives and the generosity of strangers to help make a difference for their world.  Unfortunately the numbers are growing at a record pace of children and families that do not have home.

Family Gateway opened in October of 1986 when Mayor-Pro Tem Annette G. Strauss saw families living on the streets of Dallas and envisioned a facility where homeless families could stay together as a family unit in a safe place. Today, Family Gateway is the largest provider of supportive housing for homeless families in North Texas. We believe that a family that stays together provides the most stability and long term success for children. Our mission is to end child homelessness in our area and with your help we can do it.

“Our annual luncheon, ‘Gateway to Opportunity,’ will be Tuesday, September 27th at the Omni Hotel. We are honored and excited that Jenna Bush Hager will be our guest speaker. She has been an ongoing advocate for children and ensuring that we all do our part to help the generations to come. Honorary event co-chairs are Tracy and Kent Rathbun. Special Advisors are fundraising experts Gina Betts and D’Andra Simmons.

“We ask that you partner with us to end child homelessness by purchasing a sponsorship or table, or underwriting necessary funds need to make sure this event is a success. Metro PCS is our Presenting Sponsor. Please visit familygateway.org for volunteer and luncheon sponsorship opportunities.

“On behalf of the homeless children and their families, we say thank you for your support and look forward to seeing you on Tuesday, September 27, at the Omni.”

Former First Twin Jenna Bush Hager To Be Keynote Speaker For Family Gateway’s Gateway To Opportunity Luncheon

North Texas was starting to take on the profile of Seattle South thanks to the deluge of May rain. It would have been a perfect format for bumbershoot jokes, except the loss of life and property weren’t the least bit humorous.

But thanks to a break in the rain on Wednesday, June 1, the skies cleared for the Family Gateway Kick-Off Party at Lisa and Clay Cooley’s home.

Chef Kent Rathbun told Christie Carter that the rain had indeed filled his towering cisterns. He added that the gallons could easily be drained in a week to water his acreage. What Kent wasn’t talking about was the behind-the-scenes issues that were developing in his relationship with his majority partner Bill Hyde. But who wanted to chat up business entanglements; Kent and wife Tracy Rathbun were focused on their duties as honorary co-chairs for the Family Gateway’s Gateway to Opportunity Luncheon on Tuesday, September 27, at the Omni Dallas Hotel with former first twin Jenna Bush Hager as the guest speaker.

Speaking of acreage, another fellow looking at the Cooley grounds wondered aloud if Clay ever tossed a line for fishing from the bridge over the property’s creek. The answer? According to Clay, he doesn’t fish the property. He feeds the finny residents. Only problem? The koi on the upper pond keep tumbling down to the lower pond. Plans are underway to resolve the southward swim.

How smart this package is to have the Rathbuns serve as “taste tour guides” for six guests to experience Napa Valley.

Hotel Senza*

Hall St. Helena*

Hall St. Helena*

Check out the artwork by John Baldessari, Jaume Plensa and Jim Campbell. Next stop will be Walt Wines in Sonoma that was the brainchild of Kathryn, whose parents — the late Dolores and Bob Walt — were dedicated winegrowers. The focus here is the production of the area’s premier Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. To prove that point there will be a Root 101 Single Vineyard Pinot Noir tasting showcasing “distinct vineyard voices that demonstrate defined character and personality, from land to table.” This education will include five single vineyard wines coursed from appellations in the Walt collection. To fulfill the experience, The Girl & the Fig will provide a “selection of seasonal, pinot-centric small bites” for each pairing.

One of Dallas’ favorite restaurant couples, Tracy and Kent Rathbun, has been juggling their businesses (Shinsei, Abacus, Jasper’s, Blue Plate Kitchen, KR Elements, etc.), their family including kiddos Max and Garrett and plans for a new home. After enjoying a few years of the penthouse lifestyle across from NorthPark, they found the perfect spot to build their dream home. Plans had to fit their unique demands of raising a family and culinary perfection. Now, the lucky bidding couple and 8 guests will be among the first to experience the Rathbun definition of entertaining excellence in the new digs. Of course, there will be a tour of their kitchen and wine room. But there’s so much more and decisions to be made including:

  • A five-course dinner complete with wine pairings masterminded by Kent himself.
  • The winning bidder will have the challenge of deciding where in the house to have the dinner — the dining room? The wine room? Poolside? Or, how about in the culinary center around the 20-foot kitchen island watching the chef at work?
  • A personal tour of the Rathbuns’ collection of local art.

Make sure you take photos of the meal and home because this is one that your friends just won’t believe.

TACA RBC Wealth Management Custom Auction Item #4: The Rathbun Dine-Around

Tracy Rathbun (File photo)

Between the two of them, Tracy and Kent Rathbun seem to have more things cooking than the Food Channel. Whether it’s homestyle or sushi, this couple are Dallas’s “first couple of cuisine and charitable contributions.” Plus they’re a heck of a lot of fun, but always on the move. TACA has even managed to snag the twosome for a night of drive-about-dining for the TACA RBC Wealth Management Custom Auction Gala.

The Rathbun Dine-Around (Value: Priceless)

Kent Rathbun

As said above, Tracy and Kent Rathbun are constantly in motion satisfying taste buds and buddies in the non-profit community. However, four very lucky couples will spend a total Rathbun experience of dining in motion.

First, the foursome will enjoy a wine-and-cheese reception at the Rathbuns’ penthouse with the gourmet twosome. And you just know it’s not going to be Velveeta or Cheese Whiz. Make sure you check out the chandelier over the dining room table and the incredible views from the terrace.

Then it’s off a la limousine for dabbling in cuisine at Shinsei (sushi bar and pan-Asian kitchen), Rathbun’s Blue Plate Kitchen (inspired by family tradition) and finishing up at Abacus, Dallas’ oh-so delicious five-star restaurant.

Remember to toss the diet for the night and enjoy the fun of food Rathbun-style.
