With the St. Valentine’s Day Luncheon And Fashion Show less than a week away, Luncheon Co-Chairs Roz Colombo and Nancy Gopez made news last night at NorthPark’s Bulgari. With Luncheon patrons including KJ Sanger, Jodi Benefiel, Julie Buschman, Andrea and David Nayfa, Kimberly Alexander, Lisa Singleton, Mary and Joe Parker, Heather Randall, Lynn McBee, Lisa Cooley, Kristen Gibbins, Kim Schlegel and two-dimensional photo bomber Gina Lollobrigida surrounded by glorious gems and flutes of adult beverages, the “Team Colo-Go” revealed the NorthPark merchants whose fashions would be on the runway in NorthPark’s tented CenterPark Garden on Thursday, February 8. The Jan Strimple-produced fashion extravaganza will include Canali, CH Carolina Herrera, Elie Tahari, Neiman Marcus, Rebecca Taylor, Roberto Cavalli and Children’s Clothing by Peek Kids.

Raising the gorgeous factor for the models will be the team from Toni and Guy.

Besides this year’s change of locations to NorthPark, Roz and Nancy also revealed that the annual raffle has really ramped up. Unlike years past when the limited number of items could only be purchased at the patron party and luncheon, Raffle Co-Chairs Jenna Alexander, Andrea Nayfa and Lisa Bhattacharya have not only put together 19 pretty remarkable packages, they’ve also made the chances available online!

According to Nancy, “We have packages such as a trip to New York City to visit the Carolina Herrera showroom, a beautiful Lucrecia Waggoner installation art, suites for the Mavericks, Stars and Pink concert, a meet-and-greet with Brooks and Dunn, two tickets to Taylor Swift, a Versace handbag, beautiful jewelry and much more!”

There are various levels of opportunities with Pink Level ($50 ticket), Gold Level ($150) and Platinum Level ($300).

If you can’t make it to the luncheon because the tickets are getting scarce, you can still buy a raffle ticket.

Proceeds from the annual sweetheart event will benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of North Texas.

Nancy and Richard Rogers (File photo)

Presented by Nancy C. and Richard R. Rogers, the extravaganza will take place once again at the Meyerson with the fashion show under the direction of event producer Jan Strimple.

And, boy, has red-haired Jan been busy. She’s been scurrying around Highland Park Village cherry-picking the very best from Brunello Cucinelli, St. John, Market, Escada, Etro and Carolina Herrera.

While on the subject of Highland Park Village, in addition to being the fashion show and luncheon sponsor, HPV’s Jimmy Choo will be the site of the patron party on Tuesday, February 7, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. In addition to a percentage of Jimmy Choo sales benefiting the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of North Texas fundraiser that night, the luncheon/fashion show raffle items will be revealed and chances will be available for purchase. Word has it that trips are gonna be included in the items with American Airlines serving as the “official travel sponsor.” Just imagine what a hit it would be to win a trip to give your special Valentine that evening over a cozy dinner!

Event Chair Heather Perttula Randall has arranged to use “two floors for the luncheon. Priority placement for the Main Floor for the luncheon will be based on giving level and time of receipt of your contract.”

The champagne reception will start bubbling at 10 a.m., so lock down your ticket. Then splurge and buy yourself a red, hot outfit to the St. V-Day lunch.

St. Valentine’s Day Luncheon And Fashion Show Chair Heather Perttula Randall Reveals Details About 2017 Fundraiser

Leave it to an attorney to be in the know. At February’s St. Valentine’s Day Luncheon and Fashion Show benefiting the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of North Texas, Sidley Austin attorney Yvette Ostolaza broke the news that Trinity Industries VP of Legal Affairs Heather Perttula Randall would chair the 2017 fundraiser. After all, it was Heather who had been the 2016 St. V-Day event’s underwriting chair and had even gotten Yvette to co-sponsor the meal.

But what the twosome weren’t revealing were the details for the 2017 luncheon and fashion show. Now, before everyone starts taking off for summer, Heather has just revealed that the event is returning to the Meyerson with “An Affair of the Heart” as the theme.

And the really big news is that it will take place on Tuesday, February 14! Yup, after a couple of years of wandering around the calendar, the sweetheart event will have flowers, fashions and friends toasting and raising monies to battle the blood cancers.

According to Heather, “I am honored to have the opportunity to serve as The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s 2017 St. Valentine’s Day Luncheon chair as it allows me the opportunity to help this amazing organization and continue its fight against blood cancers. I cannot wait to take the luncheon to a new level by setting a new fundraising record.”

And as for Yvette, she’ll be co-chairing underwriting with Daffan Nettle. The rest of Heather’s team will include 2016 St. Valentine’s Co-Chairs Gina Betts and Michael Flores as the advisory chairs; Maggie Cooke Kipp as the table sales chair; Bradley Hawkins as the artistic chair and Jennifer LeLash, Monti Konen and Jennifer Stalkup the raffle co-chairs.

The St. Valentine’s Day Luncheon and Fashion Show turned the Meyerson into the biggest Valentine in town with all the gals in reds, pinks and whites. It sure didn’t hurt to have the sun shining through the mammoth windows of the Meyerson’s lobby on those gleaming white marble floors.

Today’s Weather Won’t Hamper Wednesday’s St. Valentine’s Day Luncheon And Fashion Show One Iota

Here we go again! You know the drill so well that you could recite it in a coma. The weather soothsayers are swearing upon their radar screens that the area is going to be hit late this morning and this afternoon by cold wet stuff. Translation: Get errands run this morning and drive very carefully this afternoon.

Now, the question looming for many is about tomorrow. It’s the annual St. Valentine’s Day Luncheon and Fashion Show at the Meyerson benefiting the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Hundreds are slated to be on hand for the extravaganza of Stanley Korshak fashions. But will the weather dampen their plans?

Heck, no! Actually, Ma Nature is playing right into the hands of Event Chair Carmaleta Whiteley and her committee.

How so? Well, since today is going to be pretty much a “stay-home-day,” that means you can apply those cucumber slices to those pretty eyes, take time in picking out your favorite red frock and just chill.

Then tomorrow morning looking incredibly refreshed, you can take your sweet time heading to the event.

What’s that? What if today’s wet stuff freezes over night? Not to worry. All those early morning commuters will forge through any icy spots for you. Plus it is predicted to be above freezing by the time you put yourself in your car’s heated seat.

The event is scheduled for the Meyerson on Wednesday, February 12, with Stanley Korshak providing the glamorama fashions.

Speaking of Korshak, that Crawford Brock is a pretty smart fella. In addition to being king of the Stanley Korshak kingdom, he’s been smart enough to have his three retailing daughters (Leigh in pr, Laura in men’s and Helen in women’s) work for him. Can you imagine what it must be around the holidays in their household!

Well, daughter Leigh reports that Crawford was just back from NYC where he received the Lifetime Achievement Award from MR Magazine. The award is designed to “honor innovators who have made a permanent imprint on the men’s apparel business.”

According to MR Editor-in-chief Karen Albert Grossman, “Aside from creating a unique and very special shopping experience for his customers, he’s willing to share his extensive knowledge of merchandising and marketing to inspire other independent merchants in the country.”

Hey, Karen, Crawford also knows and appreciates the importance of supporting the nonprofits in his market. Just ask the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Texas Ballet, Fresh Faces of Fashion and The Salvation Army’s Echelon Group.

The Queen Bees May Have Left Town, But The Busy Bees Are Hard At Work

There is a theory that once the summer heat hits Dallas, the Queen Bees buzz off to cooler temps only to return during the last days of August when things start ramping up.

In the meantime area Worker Bees stay here and are hard at work plotting and preparing arrangements for the upcoming fall, winter and spring seasons of mega fundraising.

It ain’t a theory. It’s fact of life in Dallas.

Saint Valentine's Day Luncheon and Fashion Show Save-the-Date

Busy Bee Maggie Kipp just returned from the mountains and beaches of Southern France to join her St. Valentine’s Day Luncheon and Fashion Show Co-chairs Angela Choquette and Paige Slates to handhold all parts of the annual Leukemia & Lymphoma Society event.

These three have taken on the challenge of upping the ante for the Stanley Korshak fashion show/luncheon big time to the Meyerson Symphony Center on Tuesday, February 12. Since these Worker Bees are also smart Do Bees, they’re already at the post office dropping off 3,000 “Save The Date” cards.

As if that weren’t enough, the trio has also arranged for Big Bees Myrna and Bob Schlegel to serve as honorary bees. . . uh, chairs.

Myrna and Bob Schlegel (File photo)

Myrna and Bob had better be resting up. It was just announced Friday that they’re also on board as honorary co-chairs for the Dallas Symphony Orchestra League’s Deb Ball on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at the Meyerson.

Gee, maybe the Schlegels should just move into the Meyerson, since it appears they’ll be calling that home base for the first part of February.

BTW, don’t bother heading to the St. Valentine’s Day website to buy tickets and checkout sponsorships. The site is being updated to accommodate all the developments.

However, if you’re dying to know more on how to get involved, email always-accommodating Michelle Northcutt at [email protected] or give her a call at 972.996.5912. She can make it happen ASAP.

And make sure you mark February 12 on your calendar for lunch with the Schlegels.

2013 St. Valentine’s Day Luncheon And Fashion Show Chairs And Some Plans Revealed With More To Come

Hot off the presses. . . or, rather, just out of the meeting. The Sweetheart Trio (Angela Choquette, Maggie Cooke Kipp and Paige Slates) will co-chair the 29th St. Valentine’s Day Luncheon and Fashion Show with Stanley Korshak presenting the fabulous fashions once again and Jan Strimple in charge of the razzle-dazzle production.

Ah, but you want to know when and where. Be patient. The Trio just left the meeting with Korshak’s Crawford Brock.

Will keep you posted as news develops for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society fundraiser. Early indications sound like it will be worth the wait. Wink, wink.

Hundreds Brave Snow And Ice To Attend St. Valentine’s Day Luncheon And Fashion Show

Photo Gallery Alert: Additional photos are available for viewing.

After suffering through the super snowball week of Super Bowl XLV, no one thought the area would be hit with a repeat performance. But it was. With weather predictors claiming a nasty encore, event organizers were scampering to the hills to postpone and/or cancel events last week. Ah, but not the ladies of Wednesday’s Saint Valentine’s Day Luncheon and Fashion Show. Up to the morning of the event, they were staying true to course and weren’t wavering except to delay the event from 10:30 to noon.

Holly Davis

Chair Holly Davis emailed ,

“It is a very difficult situation but we are going forward with a delayed start at noon. Some people are confident about making the trek while others are opting to stay home. I hope everyone does what is safest and best for them.

We have models backstage getting ready right now to put on a fabulous show. Now… I better get ready too!”

It was a tough call, but Holly couldn’t back down. Too many pieces were in place that couldn’t be postponed. The Chantilly Room at the Hilton Anatole was decked out, the models and valets were ready to go on with the show, etc. It was every event chair’s idea of a root canal without anesthesia — a total loss or chance that some stalwarts would safely make their way to the event. As frivolous as a fashion show may seem under such conditions, fund raisers recognized that every cent is so necessary for the research in curing leukemia and lymphoma.

Evidently there were 500 stalwarts who braved the snow, ice and slush to make it to the show. [Read more…]
