MySweetCharity Photo Gallery Alert: KidneyTexas Inc.’s Runway Report

While the Tootsies fashions took centerstage at the KidneyTexas Inc.Runway Report on Tuesday, September 26, at Brook Hollow, the scene stealers were stories of people like KidneyTexas Inc. President Andrea Alcorn‘s mother, McKamy Tiner, Luncheon Co-Chair Christine Martin and a young fella named Vinny Trezza and his mother Melissa Trezza, whose lives have changed thanks to research and treatments for the disease.

However, it must be admitted that the closing fashion on the catwalk that reflected the event’s theme of “Transforming Lives” definitely got reactions from those in the audience.

MySweetCharity Photo Gallery: 2018 Nasher Prize Laureate Reveal

Derek and Christen Wilson

Jeremy Strick

The sculptor aficionados of North Texas art lovers as well as the media gathered at The Warehouse on Tuesday, September 19, to learn who would be the recipient of the annual 2018 Nasher Prize. With live streaming of the announcement that Chicago artist Theaster Gates had scored the win according the international panel of judges, the crowd was also put on notice that the presentation of the prize co-chaired by Christen and Derek Wilson would take place on Saturday, April 7, at the Nasher Sculpture Center.

And in keeping with the focus on art, the crowd itself was pretty eyecatching, too. While the post is being finalized about the announcement by Nasher Sculpture Center Director Jeremy Strick, check out the guests at MySweetCharity Photo Gallery.

MySweetCharity Photo Gallery Alert: 2017 Crystal Charity Ball’s Fashion Show Platinum Circle Dinner

Pam Perella, Shelly Slater and Ralph and Barbara Babb

Christi Urschel

It wouldn’t have been surprising if the crowd at the 2017 Crystal Charity Ball’s Fashion Show Platinum Circle Dinner on Tuesday, September 5, had still been at the Dallas Country Club for breakfast. This year’s warm-up event for the next week’s CCB Fashion Show events was like old-home week. Perhaps it was CCB Chair Pam Perella’s and Platinum Dinner Chair Christi Urschel’s changing up the floor plan, including ginormous individual photos of the 10 Best Dressed and Hall of Famer Charlotte Jones Anderson on the far wall. Or perhaps it was the makeup of the Fashion Show’s top-spending guests including the Gene and Jerry Jones posse. Or, perhaps it was just time to have a good time.

MySweetCharity Photo Gallery Alert: Callier Center’s Cochlear Implant Summer Listening Camp

Cochlear Implant Summer Listening Campers

While Camp Longhorn and Camp Mystique were underway in other parts of Texas, Callier Center’s Cochlear Implant Summer Listening Camp was taking place from Monday, July 24, to Friday, July 28, at Cross Creek Ranch in Parker County. It was pretty much like other summer camps with outdoor activities, lots of laughter, a couple of scrapes, crafts and palling around. But this one wasn’t just for anyone. These campers were unique. You might say they were high tech with their cochlear implants. Their counselors were graduate students form the School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences at UT Dallas.

MySweetCharity Photo Gallery Alert!: 2017 La Fiesta De Las Seis Banderas

2017 La Fiesta De Las Seis Banderas Duchesses

Despite rumors that North Texas had been evacuated for the summer, The Fairmont looked like a high school reunion with more than 80 collegiates taking part in the 2017 La Fiesta De Las Seis Banderas gala on Saturday, June 10. With a ballroom filled to the max with friends and family, the Duchesses took full advantage of this year’s French influence with a flurry of fashionable colors, designs and, of course, tiaras.

And the escorts weren’t too shabby themselves in their white tie and tails.

MySweetCharity Photo Gallery: Ann Moody Place

For years, the Ann Moody Place was just a dream for those living in a nightmare. It was the hoped-for place of safety, where women could escape lives of domestic abuse and learn how to make a new and better life for themselves and their families.

Paige Flink Healing Garden in center courtyard

But thanks to The Family Place’s CEO Paige Flink, her staff, Legacy Campaign Chair Lynn McBee, TFP board and the North Texas community, Ann Moody Place became a 50,000-square-foot facility in the Medical District. Just before the Sunday, June 4th reception for supporters and the full-blown opening in July, a tour was conducted of the three-story complex with everything from an mini-clinic, kennels, a center courtyard, pillows embroidered with “Dream BIG” to artwork throughout.

While the post on the tour is being prepared, check out pictures at MySweetCharity Photo Gallery. Chances are you’ll never need Moody Place, but it needs your support to provide annually for the estimated 2,000 clients.

MySweetCharity Photo Gallery: The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary Fashion Show And Luncheon

The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary Fashion Show and Luncheon is the one occasion when guests see “old friends” on the runway as models display donated outfits up for bid. There have even been rumors that some ladies have bought back their own outfits, especially after having fashion show producer Jan Strimple edit them to current trends.

From the Cristal served at the VIP pre-luncheon meet-and-greet to the chatter during the presentation of the Community Partners of Dallas’ 2017 Partners for Children Award, the CPD fundraiser ran the gamut from class to crass. MySweetCharity Photo Gallery Alert: The Claus Collection Santa Exhibition

The Dallas Arboretum will be closed on Christmas Day. And while the official word is that this closure allows the staff to be with their families and friends, the unofficial word is that there is an exclusive party taking place in the DeGoyler House.

Reserved annually for this festive event, the stately mansion is where Santa parties with Mrs. Claus, the elves and the reindeer after delivering toys and before heading back to the North Pole.

The Claus Collection Santa Exhibition

In addition to the eggnog, decorated cookies and fruitcake (yes, Santa does like fruitcake, especially from Corsicana), the highlight of this year’s occasion is the hundreds of Santas provided by members of the Junior League of Dallas at The Claus Collection Santa Exhibition.
