MySweetCharity Photo Gallery Alert: 2017 Crystal Charity Ball Wrap-Up Luncheon

Elizabeth Gambrell, Leslie Diers, Pam Perella, Anne Besser and Cheryl Joyner

After a year of work, the 2017 Crystal Charity Ball Chair Pam Perella and her team were tallying up the results for Dallas children’s charities. While the final dollar amount won’t be revealed until 2018, the top producers of the committee were recognized at the annual Wrap Up Luncheon on Monday, November 13, at Forty Five Ten’s Mirador penthouse restaurant.

MySweetCharity Photo Gallery Alert: Association Of Fundraising Philanthropy Greater Dallas Luncheon

Meagan Burton, Ken and Julie Hersh, Karen Simmons, Pagett Gosslee, Micha, Lynn McBee, Kevin Hurst, Sandra and Henry Estess and Mary Freeman

Once again the Association of Fundraising Philanthropy Greater Dallas Luncheon’s was totally upstaged by the cutest recipient. But this year there was a wrench thrown into the plans. It had to do with the announcement of the Veterans Day Parade schedule.

Doug Murray, Kit Sawers and Carole and Scott Murray

The results were traditional Emcee Scott Murray arriving via a police escort.

While the post is trying to reorganize, check out the cute red-haired Micah Pinson and other recipients of the National Philanthropy Day of Greater Dallas Awardees at MySweetCharity Photo Gallery.

MySweetCharity Photo Gallery Alert: 2017 Crystal Charity Ball Underwriters Party

With the 2017 Crystal Charity Ball less than a month away, the final big thank-you reception was held on Thursday, November 9, at Amy and Corey Prestige’s fabulous mansion. From the amazing dining room filled with Cassandra must-haves to the standing-room-only in the den, the CCB underwriters had plenty to talk about and to feast upon.

Ginny and Randy Bailey

Liat and Amit Berger

But as dazzling as the entry’s lacquered eggplant purple walls were, the bling-bling provided by the evening sponsor Diamonds Direct had guests thinking about adding a glitter for the children’s gala on Saturday, December 2, as well as Christmas shopping.

MySweetCharity Photo Gallery Alert: Crystal Charity Ball’s Circle Of Angels Dinner

Courtney Wang and Lori Barber and Rachael and Bob Dedman

It was a gathering of angels at Kathy and Harlan Crow’s library on Thursday, November 2. In this case, the angels didn’t float in with wings. Rather they arrived via Mercedes, Bentleys and other luxury four-wheelers for the Crystal Charity Ball’s Circle of Angels dinner.

Jason Downing

Pam Perella and Caren Kline

Filled to capacity, the main room of the library was a showcase for the CCB underwriters to be wined, dined and thanked for their support. But then, what else would one expect when Rachael Dedman was in charge of the evening?

Some guests at the Hyatt Regency probably thought that Halloween was being celebrated early on Tuesday, October 31, with Hillcrest 2027 graduates, Texas Tech Masked Rider and Red Raider walking through the lobby area. Actually the future Panther grads and Tech mascots were on hand for The Senior Source’s annual Spirit of Generations Luncheon honoring Diane and John Scovell.

MySweetCharity Photo Gallery Alert: 18th Annual Mission Ole

Lesley Lanahan, Matt Schooler and Ann Kellogg Schooler and Michael Lanahan

Despite the ghoulish faces and the chill in the air, the Trinity River Mission’s 18th Annual Mission Ole at Chicken Scratch and The Foundry was festive, fun and fundraising on Saturday, October 28. With the fire pit blazing and portable heater blowing, the cold factor was nihil. But at times it was hard to know just who was behind the painted faces. Why the face painters were busier than NorthPark Neiman’s cosmetic counter on a Saturday afternoon!

MySweetCharity Photo Gallery Alert: 2017 Cattle Baron’s Ball

Mother Nature threatened to put a real crimp in the 2017 Cattle Baron’s Ball at Gilley’s on Saturday, October 21. She had done it before and she was predicted to do an encore with rain, lightning and all types of frightening stuff.

Steve and Anne Stodghill and Sunie and Steve Solomon

Co-Chairs Anne Stodghill and Sunie Solomon and their crackerjack team of baronesses were ready for whatever the old gal threw at them. Everything but the Ferris wheel was covered.

Kevin Kuykendall

And talk about the live auction. There were a lot of arms reaching for the ceiling as the bids impressed even longtime vets.

And wouldn’t you know. They even managed to talk Ma Nature into holding off her pity party puddles until the after-party was over.

Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn

While the post is being finalized, there are dozens and dozens and dozens of pictures over at MySweetCharity Photo Gallery.

MySweetCharity Photo Gallery Alert: Jade Ball

It’s not every day that dragons dance merrily in the driveway of Belo Mansion, or that Chinese Opera singer Lucy Xu sings “Farewell My Concubine” in the Pavilion. But those were just a couple of the sights and sounds that took place at the Crow Collection of Asian Art’s Jade Ball on Saturday, October 7.

Lucy Xu

Lynn McBee and Robert Weatherly

Gala Chair Robert Weatherly and Honorary Chair Lynn McBee arranged for a hutong of Chinese artists, tea masters and fortune tellers to the delight of the 350 black-tie guests before entering the ballroom for a seated dinner complete with chopsticks and a live auction that had auctioneer Katherine Rigdon searching for bids.

MySweetCharity Photo Gallery Alert: 2017 Cattle Baron’s Ball Patron Party

Gail and Cliff Fischer

Lisa Ogle

With the moon overhead and the weather simply perfecto at Gail and Cliff Fischer’s estate, it was the ideal occasion for the 2017 Cattle Baron’s Ball patron party on Wednesday, October 4. Thanks to a touch of humidity in the air, ties were mostly left at home and bare-shouldered sundresses and dangling earrings were the look du jour. A favorite pastime was the buying of  raffle tickets for the upcoming Saturday, October 21, fundraiser for the American Cancer Society.

The only “oops” of the night was one guest taking a seat on a little bench. While that moment and others are being written up, check out the pixs at MySweetCharity Photo Gallery.

MySweetCharity Photo Gallery Alert: Equest Women’s Auxiliary Luncheon And Style Show

Beth Thoele and Angie Kadesky

During the fundraising luncheon circuit, some guests get jaded by the very scripted and rehearsed speakers at the podium. On Tuesday, October 3, at Brook Hollow Equest Women’s Auxiliary Luncheon and Style Show Chair Beth Thoele received great vibrations as her refreshing and off-the-cuff remarks broke the guests into smiles, chuckles and one really big laugh.

With sweeping gowns and bow ties ranging from feathers to colorful prints, the 2017 Dallas Symphony Gala officially kicked off the mega-gala fundraising season on Saturday, September 16, at the Meyerson. In addition to being a lavish show of swell-egants, it was also the final gala performance by Dallas Symphony Orchestra Gala Maestro Jaap van Zweden. MySweetCharity Photo Gallery Alert: Baylor Health Care System Foundation Board Meeting

Nick Zenarosa, Norm Bagwell, Robin Robinson and Jim Hinton

Leonard Riggs and Clare Garca

In today’s world with all types of emergencies facing folks, from bad coughs to devastating accidents, the need for top-notch emergency rooms is vital to the North Texas community. On Tuesday, September 12, the Baylor Health Care System Foundation Board learned firsthand about the challenges, developments and the differences among the emergency facilities from Integrated Emergency Services Founder/CEO Dr. Nick Zenarosa at its quarterly meeting. The subject was “The First Three Hours: What Everyone Needs To Know About An Emergency Department.”

In addition to the new and old board members in attendance was Dr. Leonard Riggs, who was a pioneer in emergency room developments.

The occasion also marked Norm Bagwell’s debut as board chair and the addition of new board members.

While the post is being prepared, check out MySweetCharity Photo Gallery for the folks who lunched and learned.

BTW, Dr. Z revealed what day of the week is the busiest one for an ER. Think about it. The answer will be in the MSC post.

MySweetCharity Photo Gallery Alert!: 2017 TACA Custom Auction Gala

Dean Fearing and Wanda Gierhart and Liz and Richard Naftalis

In celebration of its 50th anniversary, TACA’s Custom Auction Gala expanded its digs at the Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek on Friday, September 8, with a see-thru tent for the cocktail reception and live auction. Plus, the organizers commissioned a dance especially for the occasion.

Bill and Linda Custard

To match the celebration, the black-tie set arrived in their finery for a night to glisten and gleam. And that they did all in the name of supporting the arts of Dallas!

MySweetCharity Photo Gallery Alert: 2017 Cattle Baron’s Ball Live Auction Preview Party

Tag Heuer Virtual Experience

Bachendorf’s Lawrence Bock just doesn’t serve up some cocktails when he hosts a party. No, siree. For the 2017 Cattle Baron’s Ball Live Auction Preview Party on Wednesday, August 30, he wanted to provide an experience. This one had even the most timid types (as if there is one in CBB land) settling back in a comfy chair for the Tag Heuer Virtual Experience in one part of his salon. In another was a jewelry counter topped with Craft’s Angel Envy at 72 for tasteful sampling.

Cattle Baronesses arming up for a photo

And, of course, there were gorgeous Baronesses and displays of the live auction items that will be on the Winston and Strawn LLP Live Auction Stage at Gilley’s on Saturday, October 21.

MySweetCharity Photo Gallery Alert!: 2017 Zoo To Do Kick-Off Party

Dallas Zoo “hip kids”

While there were a bunch of  gals in animal-print sundresses and tanned fellows in cotton shirts at the Dallas Zoo, a couple of tubbies were the center of attention for the 2017 Zoo To Do Kick-Off Party on Wednesday, June 14. And the twosome made fat seem downright adorable as they did aquatic antics in the pond. The duo were Boipelo and Adhama, the two Nile Hippos that had recently set up housekeeping in the Simmons Hippo Outpost.

The other Zoo Ambassadors politely took their place on the sideline including the owl that didn’t give a hoot (Sorry, but it was too good to resist.) about being upstaged.

MySweetCharity Photo Gallery Alert: 2017 Crystal Charity Ball Midpoint Lunch

It’s perfectly normal for any fundraising group to take the financial temperature halfway through their campaign. Usually it takes place in the accountant’s office or at a boardroom with grim faces. But leave it to the Crystal Charity Ball gals to do it with a flare at a fav restaurant with smiles on all faces in raising money for Dallas-area children’s nonprofits. Instead of calculators spewing out numbers, there were awards for those who had been most successful in bringing in the checks, contracts and cash.

That’s what happened on Tuesday, June 6, at Salum Restaurant at their annual Midpoint Luncheon with CCB Chair Pam Perella setting the tone with a 1970s TV theme.

MySweetCharity Photo Gallery Alert: Crystal Charity Ball Former Chairmen Dinner

The evening of Wednesday, May 24, couldn’t have been more perfect for the dinner honoring annual Crystal Charity Ball former chairmen at Lisa and Clay Cooley’s estate. To accommodate the 60 guests, 2017 CCB Chair Pam Perella and Dinner Chair Jennifer Dix replaced the furniture in the formal living room with round tables topped off with tablecloths, place settings and floral arrangements.

Linda McFarland, Debbie Snell, Tincy Miller, Margo Goodwin, Jill Smith, Sally Bos, Caren Kline, Christie Carter, Gloria Martindale, Cynthia Mitchell, Michal Powell, Aileen Pratt, Tucean Webb, Connie O’Neill, Karen Shuford, Becky Bright and Barbara Stuart

Interesting side note: one of the past chairs was a junior in college when she chaired the Dallas County children’s charities fundraiser. Which one? Not to worry. The answer will be in the post that is being prepared. In the meantime, check out the guests at MySweetCharity Photo Gallery.

MySweetCharity Photo Gallery Alert: Cattle Baron’s Ball Art Auction

Art was definitely in the air on Wednesday, May 17, in downtown Dallas. While the fashionista types were oohing and ahing over at the Dallas Museum of Arts for the private reception of the Iris van Herpen: Transforming Fashion, the cancer-battling types were at The Joule.

Cattle Baron’s Ball Art Auction

Seems 2017 Cattle Baron’s Ball Co-Chairs Sunie Solomon and Anne Stodghill had added a new touch to the annual fundraising efforts to conquer cancer. They pulled together all types of art for a Texas-sized auction in The Joule’s ballroom.

As purty as the art was on display, the gathering of baronesses and barons was darn impressive, too.

Iris van Herpen: Transforming Fashion

The Dallas Museum of Art’s preview soiree for Dutch fashion designer Iris van Herpen’s Iris van Herpen: Transforming Fashion was more like a wedding reception for the marriage of art and fashion. Having interned with Alexander McQueen and Claudy Jongstra, Iris’ work is breathtaking and mind-shaking. True, some of the collection of 45 couture designs may not look all that comfortable for wearing, but there’s not a one that wouldn’t turn heads.

MySweetCharity Photo Gallery Alert: A Double Centennial Celebration

More than 300 folks gathered at the Dallas Country Club to celebrate a double centennial and that doesn’t happen every day. But on Tuesday, May 16, the celebrants were the Dallas County Medical Society Alliance Foundation and the historic Aldredge House, both dated back to starts in 1917.

Margaret Milam McDermott

Ruth Collins Sharp Altshuler

On hand were Honorary Co-Chairs 105-year-old Margaret Milam McDermott and young whippersnapper Ruth Collins Sharp Altshuler, who grew up down the block from Aldredge House.

Lindalyn Adams

William Seale

But don’t go thinking this was a dusty old celebration. Thanks to history preservationist Lindalyn Adams and noted historian/author William Seale, the crowd learned historic tidbits, from the filming of the “Dallas” pilots to how “the country club girls” put Lulu White on the breadline.

MySweetCharity Photo Gallery: Canine Companions For Independence Graduation

Canine Companions for Independence South Central Training Center

Unlike many May graduates who have diplomas but are in need of jobs, the Canine Companions for Independence graduates left the stage for a lifelong career with their human partners on Friday, May 5. Also as part of the ceremony at the Kinkeade Campus at Baylor Scott and White Health facilities in Irving were the puppies that have been raised by volunteers for nearly two years. They were turned over by their puppy raisers to CCI trainers to see if they, too, would make the grade.

As the class spokesperson said, “We arrived as seven families, but today we graduate as one.” Needless to say, there was plenty of Kleenex put to use for the standing-room-only crowd.

MySweetCharity Photo Gallery Alert: 2017 Crystal Charity Ball Theme Announcement Reception

Jan and Trevor Rees-Jones

Leave it to the Crystal Charity Ball ladies to land one of the most talked about estates-in-the-making in the Park Cities for the theme announcement of the 2017 children’s nonprofit fundraiser. The home-sweet-home a la Frank Lloyd Wright belonging to Jan and Trevor Rees-Jones drew nearly three times the usual number for such an occasion on Thursday, May 4.

Snow bunnies, Bernie the St. Bernard and Pam Perella

With the night air being spectacular and the terrace overlooking the Dallas Country Club golf course and Turtle Creek, 2017 Crystal Charity Ball Chair Pam Perella with a couple of snow bunnies and Bernie the stuffed St. Bernard at her side revealed the theme would be “Evening In The Alps.”
