MySweetCharity Photo Gallery Alert!: 2017 Zoo To Do Kick-Off Party

Dallas Zoo “hip kids”

While there were a bunch of  gals in animal-print sundresses and tanned fellows in cotton shirts at the Dallas Zoo, a couple of tubbies were the center of attention for the 2017 Zoo To Do Kick-Off Party on Wednesday, June 14. And the twosome made fat seem downright adorable as they did aquatic antics in the pond. The duo were Boipelo and Adhama, the two Nile Hippos that had recently set up housekeeping in the Simmons Hippo Outpost.

The other Zoo Ambassadors politely took their place on the sideline including the owl that didn’t give a hoot (Sorry, but it was too good to resist.) about being upstaged.

MySweetCharity Photo Gallery Alert: 2017 Crystal Charity Ball Midpoint Lunch

It’s perfectly normal for any fundraising group to take the financial temperature halfway through their campaign. Usually it takes place in the accountant’s office or at a boardroom with grim faces. But leave it to the Crystal Charity Ball gals to do it with a flare at a fav restaurant with smiles on all faces in raising money for Dallas-area children’s nonprofits. Instead of calculators spewing out numbers, there were awards for those who had been most successful in bringing in the checks, contracts and cash.

2017 Crystal Charity Ball beneficiaries

That’s what happened on Tuesday, June 6, at Salum Restaurant at their annual Midpoint Luncheon with CCB Chair Pam Perella setting the tone with a 1970s TV theme.

MySweetCharity Photo Gallery Alert: Crystal Charity Ball Former Chairmen Dinner

The evening of Wednesday, May 24, couldn’t have been more perfect for the dinner honoring annual Crystal Charity Ball former chairmen at Lisa and Clay Cooley’s estate. To accommodate the 60 guests, 2017 CCB Chair Pam Perella and Dinner Chair Jennifer Dix replaced the furniture in the formal living room with round tables topped off with tablecloths, place settings and floral arrangements.

But before dinner was officially on, the group photo of the past chairs took place in front of the fountain in front of the mansion.

Interesting side note: one of the past chairs was a junior in college when she chaired the Dallas County children’s charities fundraiser. Which one? Not to worry. The answer will be in the post that is being prepared. In the meantime, check out the guests at MySweetCharity Photo Gallery.

MySweetCharity Photo Gallery Alert: Cattle Baron’s Ball Art Auction

Art was definitely in the air on Wednesday, May 17, in downtown Dallas. While the fashionista types were oohing and ahing over at the Dallas Museum of Arts for the private reception of the Iris van Herpen: Transforming Fashion, the cancer-battling types were at The Joule.

Cattle Baron’s Ball Art Auction

Seems 2017 Cattle Baron’s Ball Co-Chairs Sunie Solomon and Anne Stodghill had added a new touch to the annual fundraising efforts to conquer cancer. They pulled together all types of art for a Texas-sized auction in The Joule’s ballroom.

As purty as the art was on display, the gathering of baronesses and barons was darn impressive, too.

Iris van Herpen: Transforming Fashion

The Dallas Museum of Art’s preview soiree for Dutch fashion designer Iris van Herpen’s Iris van Herpen: Transforming Fashion was more like a wedding reception for the marriage of art and fashion. Having interned with Alexander McQueen and Claudy Jongstra, Iris’ work is breathtaking and mind-shaking. True, some of the collection of 45 couture designs may not look all that comfortable for wearing, but there’s not a one that wouldn’t turn heads.

MySweetCharity Photo Gallery Alert: A Double Centennial Celebration

More than 300 folks gathered at the Dallas Country Club to celebrate a double centennial and that doesn’t happen every day. But on Tuesday, May 16, the celebrants were the Dallas County Medical Society Alliance Foundation and the historic Aldredge House, both dated back to starts in 1917.

On hand were Honorary Co-Chairs 105-year-old Margaret Milam McDermott and young whippersnapper Ruth Collins Sharp Altshuler, who grew up down the block from Aldredge House.

Lindalyn Adams

William Seale

But don’t go thinking this was a dusty old celebration. Thanks to history preservationist Lindalyn Adams and noted historian/author William Seale, the crowd learned historic tidbits, from the filming of the “Dallas” pilots to how “the country club girls” put Lulu White on the breadline.

While the post is being prepared including Sue Ellen and Lulu, photos are available at MySweetCharity Photo Gallery for your perusal.

MySweetCharity Photo Gallery: Canine Companions For Independence Graduation

Canine Companions for Independence South Central Training Center

Unlike many May graduates who have diplomas but are in need of jobs, the Canine Companions for Independence graduates left the stage for a lifelong career with their human partners on Friday, May 5. Also as part of the ceremony at the Kinkeade Campus at Baylor Scott and White Health facilities in Irving were the puppies that have been raised by volunteers for nearly two years. They were turned over by their puppy raisers to CCI trainers to see if they, too, would make the grade.

As the class spokesperson said, “We arrived as seven families, but today we graduate as one.” Needless to say, there was plenty of Kleenex put to use for the standing-room-only crowd.

MySweetCharity Photo Gallery Alert: 2017 Crystal Charity Ball Theme Announcement Reception

Jan and Trevor Rees-Jones

Leave it to the Crystal Charity Ball ladies to land one of the most talked about estates-in-the-making in the Park Cities for the theme announcement of the 2017 children’s nonprofit fundraiser. The home-sweet-home a la Frank Lloyd Wright belonging to Jan and Trevor Rees-Jones drew nearly three times the usual number for such an occasion on Thursday, May 4.

Snow bunnies, Bernie the St. Bernard and Pam Perella

With the night air being spectacular and the terrace overlooking the Dallas Country Club golf course and Turtle Creek, 2017 Crystal Charity Ball Chair Pam Perella with a couple of snow bunnies and Bernie the stuffed St. Bernard at her side revealed the theme would be “Evening In The Alps.”

MySweetCharity Photo Gallery Alert: 2017 Mad Hatter’s Tea

Cathy Vieth and Shane Walker

It’s that event of the year in which creative juices are let loose resulting in jaw-dropping expressions by passersby. Benefiting the Women’s Council of the Dallas Arboretum, the Mad Hatter’s Tea has become a feast for gawkers and showboaters.

Amber Griffin’s hat

On Thursday, April 27, “Under The Tuscan Sun” had some of the guests’ chapeaus reaching for Old Sol at the Arboretum, while others looked like an Italian platter had taken residence on their heads. Mamma mia!

MySweetCharity Photo Gallery Alert: 2017 Art Ball Patron Party

Lee and Ann Hobson

Leave it to those art-loving Art Ball types. They simply don’t know how to have a blah get-together. Leading up to the April 22 fundraising gala at the Dallas Museum of Art, 2017 Art Ball Co-Chairs Ann and Lee Hobson had the patron party at Brian Bolke‘s Forty Five Ten on Thursday, April 13.

Models playing backgammon in Forty Five Ten fashions

With models in fabulous evening gowns playing backgammon as if they were in a French chateau’s game room, the guests got in the mood for “All That Glitters.”  Needless to say, there was a lot of gawking from the sidewalk from passersby.

And, yes, you guessed it. The post is in its final stages, but the faces and fashions can be seen over at MySweetCharity Photo Gallery.

The threat of showers on Thursday, March 16, didn’t deter the Dallas Arboretum Food and Wine Festival organizers. Good thing because the evening’s weather turned out to be on beyond imaginable for the 1,300 hungry guests. Thanks to Chef Sharon Van Meter and her 40 or so other professional culinary types like Chef Chad Houser, nobody went home hungry.

Cliff and Gail Fischer and Denny and Connie Carreker

The VIPs wined and dined on the DeGolyer terrace overlooking White Rock Lake. The rest of the crowds found happiness at food stations throughout the grounds that were Dallas blooming fabulous.

MySweetCharity Photo Gallery Alert: 2017 Cattle Baron’s Ball Reveal Party

2017 Cattle Baron’s Ball Co-Chairs Sunie Solomon and Anne Stodghill had a bit of challenge on their hands for the “Reveal Party” on Thursday, February 2. It seemed everyone not only RSVP-ed, they wanted to bring all types of friends along to learn who would be on stage and what the theme would be.

Chase Cooley, Bela Pjetrovic, Anne Stodghill, Sunie Solomon and Lisa Cooley

Despite the shindig being held at the Stodghill villa and the night being picture perfect, it was still gonna be a bit of jam for all the expected cars. How did Sunie and Anne handle the situation?

Be patient. The answer will be in the write-up that is being prepared. In the meantime, check out the photos at MySweetCharity Photo Gallery.

MySweetCharity Photo Gallery Alert: 2017 Soup’s On! Luncheon

This winter hasn’t exactly been a Sub-Zero experience, at least in North Texas. So the demand for soup may not have been the high priority of years past. But when it comes to The Stewpot Alliance’s Soup’s On! Luncheon, the liquid stuff is a draw thanks to Chief Chef Brian Luscher and his team of chefs and the topic du jour — the homeless situation in North Texas.

For a second time within a week, Dallas’ newest fashion showcase Forty Five Ten was the scene of a fundraiser.
