The evening of Wednesday, March 21, was so perfect — with 70-degree weather, just the slightest hint of a breeze and the sky looking like it had just washed in from Capri — that even the area valets almost felt guilty for taking tips for fetching cars.
At Amy and Corey Prestidge’s home, the lacquered eggplant walls of the entry hall were backstaging it compared to the outdoor mammoth trampoline, as the patrons of the 50th Annual Family Night at Six Flags got underway. With the French doors of the mansion’s dining room open to the terrace, Children’s Health CEO Chris Durovich and his bride Christina Durovich welcomed guests alongside Children’s Health President David Berry.
According to Children’s Medical Center Foundation President Brent Christopher, the anniversary occasion at the Arlington park was wide open to accommodate hundreds thousands of guests from 6 to 11 p.m. on Friday, April 6, for the Women’s Auxiliary of Children’s Medical Center Dallas’ fundraiser. Brent swore it was just a coincidence that his former Communities Foundation of Dallas cohort Monica Egert Smith was heading up the Auxiliary this year. “Honestly, this was all in place before I returned to Children’s.”
Thanks to its 56 years of service, the Auxiliary had “contributed more than $20M to Children’s Health” supporting “Family Support Services, research, intensive care, critical training programs and lifesaving equipment acquisitions, as well as establishing endowments to sustain and enhance essential programs and services for patients and families for years to come.”
As for Family Night, it’s a double bargain. Not only does the money go to supporting Children’s, it translates into way shorter lines at even the most popular rides.
Early arrivals included Nancy and Ryan Scripps, Corey’s folks Pat and Claude Prestidge, Debbie Raynor, Knoxie Edmondson, Joan Eleazer and Susan and Joel Williams, who is serving his final term as mayor of Highland Park.
It’s not too late to snatch up tickets that are going for $40. They’re available at area Tom Thumbs. And if you’ve already done your grocery shopping, then try here!

Thanks for the PR for Six Flag Night!
