Texas has long been known for producing incredible women. Some are proud of their accomplishments — Barbara Jordan, Carol Burnett, Babe Zaharias. While other are infamous for their misdoings — Bonnie Parker, Miss Jessie, Michele Williams.
To celebrate the Lone Star’s birthday on Tuesday, March 2, as well as National Women’s History Month, the Altrusa Club of Dallas Foundation will hold a luncheon and auction honoring Women in Public Service and Government.
Luncheon Chair Anne Barclay Reed has arranged to have retired Texas Court of Criminal Appeals Judge Frances J. Maloney serve as honorary chair and for U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas Judge Barbara M.G. Lynn to be the keynote speaker.
Barbara will address “the role of women in government and public service.”
According to Anne, “If you have young adults interested in public service, this is an excellent opportunity to include them in community!”
Of course, there will be a silent auction with proceeds benefiting scholarships for legal, nursing and pharmaceutical studies.
And just any old ballroom wouldn’t do for this birthday hoop-la. The luncheon will be held at The old Red Museum of Dallas County History and Culture from 11:30 – 1:30 p.m.
Tickets are $75 and may be gotten by emailing here!
