It was five years ago today that we “learned that D Magazine’s blog SweetCharity is going to end its run.” On that day MySweetCharity was created because of people who had a sense of humor and saw a purpose in such a website to exist.
Thanks to people and organizations from the very first day like PlainsCapital, Crystal Charity Ball, Cattle Baron’s Ball, Designs by Shauna, Dallas Pro It and a berated soul, who underwrote so much of the effort, MySweetCharity has not only survived, it has thrived having published more than 3,800 posts. These people and their organizations have more than taken a chance, they have inspired all of the MSC team.
But we must confide in you — those early days were brutal. There were hiccups and really shabby days when vendors and public relations people put up with royal temper tantrums.
According to our accountant, we could have been a much more profitable, if only we had accepted ads from all sorts. But Queenie deemed that only top-caliber types would be part of the MSC world. After all, as Queenie said, “Birds of a feather… or whatever the saying is.” Let’s face it. She’s not the brightest star in the sky.
We thank you for joining us in our efforts. Our grand journey continues and we hope you will continue to be with us. Happy #5! Celebrate it and yourself.
