More good news! The 2014-2015 Dallas Historical Society new officers were just revealed, as well as the new members of its board.
Heading up the board will be Lynn and Allan McBee with Alison Hunsicker serving as secretary and William Helmbrecht as treasurer.
New trustees include Pierce Allman, Wilson Fuqua, Ward Hunt Jr., Ken Jackson, Veletta Lill, Sharon McCullough, Kit Sawyers and Mary Suhm.
Just in case you want to brush up on your “Who Are They” memory bank, a brief description of the new trustees follows the jump.
- Pierce Allman, after a successful career in radio management, public and alumni relations and marketing, he joined his wife, Allie Beth Allman in the real estate business. He has held leadership roles in a number of historical, civic, social services and medical organizations.
- Architect Wilson Fuqua is well known for his design and refurbishment of estates and mansions in Highland Park and elsewhere. Recognized for his craftsmanship and attention to detail, Fuqua is dedicated to preserving the European tradition of attention to detail with the use of historic elements.
- A financial advisor with Merrill Lynch, John Ward Hunt, Jr., holds an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin and is also a graduate of Duke University. Active in political affairs both in Texas and nationally, Mr. Hunt has worked with utility and oil companies in addition to his investment experience.
- Vice President with J.P. Morgan Private Bank, Kenneth Jackson earned an engineering degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and later worked in Cyrus for nine years with Raytheon. After receiving his MBA from SMU in 2008, he joined Goldman Sachs prior to assuming his current position in 2012.
- Former City Council member and executive director of the Dallas Arts District, Veletta Forsythe Lill has been a strong advocate for historic preservation, architecture and urban planning throughout her career. She has served as a board member or trustee for numerous historic preservation and architecture-related organizations.
- Sharon McCullough is a highly regarded community leader and fundraiser. She has served as president, chairman and board member for numerous civic and charitable organizations including Crystal Charity Ball Committee, DAR, Dallas Theater Center and Dallas Woman’s Club. Currently she is on the board of Baylor Health Care System Foundation and the Meadows School of the Arts.
- A principal of Fay + Sawyers Production, Kit Sawyers was project manager for the grand opening celebration of Klyde Warren Park. Previously she was vice president of special events for the North Texas Super Bowl XLV Host Committee and has helped grow the Emmitt Smith Celebrity Invitational golf tournament.
- During three decades in municipal government, former city Manager Mary Suhm earned a national reputation among public administrators for creativity and innovation. Prior to retiring earlier this year, she was responsible for 13,000 employees and a budget of nearly $3 billion. She was nationally recognized for her organizational leadership during Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
