The Dallas Historical Society just announced the event chairs and honorary chairs for the 2013 Awards of Excellence in Community Service.
Scheduled for Tuesday, November 12, at the Fairmont, mother/daughter team Peggy and Catherine Carr will chair the luncheon with Minnie and Bill Caruth III serving as honorary chairs.
“We look forward to celebrating with Dallas our city’s community leaders at this year’s Awards for Excellence event,” said DHS Chair Margaret Keliher. “It is a tribute to the Dallas Historical Society to have such notable contributors to the Dallas community spearheading our annual luncheon.”
The event will “honor individuals in eight categories, including Arts Leadership, Business, Creative Arts, Education, Health Sciences, Humanities/History, Philanthropy and Volunteer Leadership. . . whose contributions have positively impacted the quality of life for the citizens of Dallas.”
Depending upon the nominations, the Jubilee History Maker Award may be presented to “an individual, group or organization whose achievements extend into more than one of the award categories.”
Past award recipients have included Ruth Altshuler, Gerald Turner, Trammell Crow, Rev. Gerald Britt, Caroline Rose Hunt, Laura Estrada and Erle Nye.
The DHS will announce the 2013 recipients in June, so stay tuned.
