With the weather being not too terribly warm and no ice in sight, walkers are popping up like summer vacation plans. The latest official event for walkers to participate in is the 2013 Dallas NEDA (National Eating Disorder Association).
According to The Elisa Project‘s Interim Executive Director Anne Besser, it’s scheduled for Saturday, May 11, at Parish Episcopal School Dallas starting at 8:30 a.m. In addition to a special performance by Dallas singer/songwriter Kelsey Riddick, the keynote speaker will be Johanna Kandel, founder of the Alliance for Eating Discover Awareness.
Another impressive participant will be lawyer/author and eating disorder survivor Brian Cuban. While Brian is well known for his opinions regarding the First Amendment and social activism, he is also a eating disorder survivor. Long regarded as a “woman’s” issue, eating disorders are becoming more numerous among men. That’s why Brian’s involvement is important to spread the word.
So, sign up and splurge — go buy some cute new walking shoes.
