Share-A-Date: Heroes & Handbags

Friday, April 19: One of the surprise hits in the past years has been the Heroes & Handbags luncheon. Maybe it’s because Dallas gals love their purses. Not only is it something to accessorize their look, but it’s also invaluable when storing the necessities of ladylike lifestyles — cellphone, lipstick and credit cards.

Some of the handbags available for purchase are gently experienced types donated by fashionable leaders. Others are brand spanking new and are dying to be clutched.

Speaking of clutching and handholding, designer Elaine Turner has designed a custom bag exclusively for the Heroes for Children fundraiser. Larissa Linton reported that “only 150 were available and we have already pre-sold over 50!”

Now for the best part. Elaine’s creation is called The Kate, “named after Prince William‘s wife, hence the crown!” If you email Larissa (llinton@heroesforchildren.org), she’ll reserve one for you for $199 with a portion going to HfC. If there are any left by the luncheon, you can take your chance and pick one up then. But that’s a chancy chance, don’t you know.

BTW, if you haven’t attended the event in the past, don’t leave your cellphone at home. It makes the purchasing oh-so-much easier and fun.

Those purse-hugging girls Nancy Dedman and Rachael Dedman are honorary chairs and Kim Bannister is luncheon chair.
