Thursday, April 26: Every year Genesis Women’s Shelter hosts one of the major “must-attend” lunches of the season. This year is absolutely no different, except it’s gonna sell out even faster than before. Why? Retired Gen. Colin Powell is going to be the keynote speaker. If you need to be told how remarkable Gen. Powell is, don’t ask anyone. You’ll embarrass yourself. Instead Google him and settle back for a lengthy lesson about this recipient of two Presidential Medals of Freedom, best-selling author and former secretary of state.
Unless you have seen him in person or on television, you might not know how extremely eloquent he is. Translation: the speech should be outstanding.
And if you really want to reward yourself, Luncheon Chairs Michelle and John Grimes along with Honorary Chairs Marianne and Roger Staubach have arranged for the Jane Doe Award Party, a very ultra-private dinner for the general with Crystal ($100,000 and up), Diamond ($50,000 and up), Platinum ($25,00 and up) and Gold ($10,000 and up) sponsors.
In addition to cocktails and dinner, the evening occasion will be the venue in which the Jane Doe Award will be presented to HeROs (He Respects Others), Genesis’s men’s auxiliary group, for “lending their resources and support to ending domestic violence against women and children.
But if you can’t afford dinner, then warm up your fingers to purchase your tickets for the luncheon that will be at the Hilton Anatole. BTW, tickets go on sale in March, so you have time to save your pennies for this very special event.
